SF neighbors divided over proposed concert series at Golden Gate Park
Next year, the producer of Outside Lands wants to create a second, smaller concert series on the Polo Field a week after the music festival, which could be an added bonus for the city and businesses. However, not all neighbors are on par with the proposal. abc7ne.ws/3O4Qb1V

with what little business comes to SF now, those who are against such economic activity are just shooting themselves in the foot. folks just don't know how to live.
"Bored" of Supervisors!!! Totally inept joke of neighborhood representation for San Franciscans! Vote 'em out!!!
Trivial arguments opposing the concert from those who are self entitled to lose access to the park for one weekend or face heavy traffic.

I was thinking the same thing. The neighbors are complaining about one weekend in the year. Get over yourself

These neighbors are the same people complaining they don't feel safe in the city, but won't allow the city to hold events to generate taxes so they hire more officers.

I lived two blocks from golden gate park for 15 years, and outside lands was annoying. People parking in my normal parking spot. Loud music blasting for 3 days straight, all day and most of the night. And during the hottest months when you can’t close your windows. People breaking glass and vomiting on your front door step. These are real valid concerns. I was glad it was only 3 days every year. That was enough. Now they want to make it an additional week? Eff that. It’s not “entitled” to want some peace and quiet. Quit throwing the word entitled around when people didn’t move next to a concert venue, they moved next to a quiet park.

Obviously some of you do not live there. This is past stupidity. I lived there. The park is closed for 3 weeks. 1 to prepare; 1 for event and some cleanup; and 1 for takedown. Add hardly strictly two week set up event and take down and the park is closed for 5 weeks. Pay attention.

We all pay to live where we live for whatever it entails. This isn't about 1 weekend anymore. They are talking about adding more. And these complaints are completely valid. You're entitled to live out in the suburbs or wherever you are. Now try having people pissing all over your doorstep. I am on the fence. I think these events are fantastic and maybe having more of them will bring different smaller and medium crowds with them. But having them weekend after weekend could be a headache.
We need police on E Bicycles to be more involved in what's going on in the public streets.

I think there should be a $20/per person cleaning charge as part of the ticket since they always leave trash all over the park.
if you want quiet, don't live in a city.
SF needs these events. How else will you get funding to donate all money to the homeless
It wouldn’t be so bad if the music being played was well played and musical. Most of what I hear from the GG Park reaching our home sounds like random, unintelligible yelling attempting to sound cool with an intimidation vibe. Is that music, or just noise for noise sake? Does it require a huge Amp to drive its message? Are the performers suffering from a lack of attention complex? I’m very happy that they are enjoying themselves and providing pleasure to their audience. I could care less about that style. I just turn up the tunes that I prefer to listen to during these releases of pent up desires to express oneself with noise from a speaker on blast that projects their attitudes.
Reduce the volume of the sound system by half and convert the polo field into temporary parking.

I used to live in Richmond district and while the Outside Land is annoying, it's just one weekend, it's not the end of the world,. Looking at the economic benefit of it I think we should have more, heck let's do 4 a year.
Honestly they should be more strict with time, if you don’t want people being people at certain hours of the day. Make sure its done two hours before restaurants, malls and other stores close so ppl can disperse

Just more NIMBYism in SF.

Yup, who are the neighbors of the polo fields? The outer Richmond to the north and the outer Sunset to the south, two big "nicer" parts of the city who don't want "their park" used by others. As long as the fees paid can pay for 100% of the cleanup I say let them play.

Party on Wayne
I haven't had a raise of more than a couple of cents in two decades, everything is more expensive, walking the streets of San Francisco has left me injured and broke. If you think I'm spending a cent on some party just because I live here, you need to take math classes and then retake them again.
Yeah with the crime increase I could see why
Do they expect more mob violence and police confrontation? Tear gas in GG Park? It's quite possible with the way this are going.
It doesn't bring any business to the city, but more drugs more violent more traffic that's for sure

The people who attend the free concert will purchase food, drinks, pay bridge fares, use gas and oil, take public transit, uber and lyft the whole Bay Area benefits.

I'm failing to make the connection. Do you think that everyone that goes to the concerts happen to live in SF, because that's definitely not true. People will be reserving hotel rooms, will visit local restaurants and will take various forms of transit to get anywhere.

NIMBY ALERT!!!!
just $1.4 M for city. not enough. if breed and newsom didn’t illegally lockdown the city and state, SF would be in a better financial position and downtown would have faired better.
If they clean up the homeless and crime, they would not need a concert to attract visitors; SF use to be a number 1 travel destination.
