Well, I couldn't be MORE in love with this DIY. Not only is it totally custom in size but also in fabrication, color, texture etc. You can style this scarf multiple ways so be sure to pick a color that will work with many of the other items in your wardrobe.
While this is a sewing projects, it's fairly basic.
For an ULTRA simplified version, dont put the cuff and just leave the ends wide. This way, you could hand sew closed the 12" seam if need be.

Okay!!! This is amazing! I'm imagining not wearing it as a "show up in it" outfit, but whipping it on in a restaurant or club when I feel chilly. And saying, "Oh this? I just made it!". xo karen

That's how I thought of using this for, but it would allow me to wear a cooler, simpler top because I would just need it for covering while this would be for keeping me warm.
Fun idea! Tho w regard to the cuff application (sleeve into tiny cuff circumference) it might be easier to attach the cuff (well and possibly sleeve too) when it's flat, then stitch the cuff seam to close as a last step..... stuffing the sleeve into that tiny cuff "tube" is seriously sewing in the dark, all the while bound by a bungy strap!

My machine has the option of removing part of its arm so I can more easily sew narrow parts😊

I did a basting stitch (by hand) on the sleeve and gathered it a little. Then pinned sleeve and cuff at the seam, at other 3 quarters, and distributed the remaining sleeve gathers between the 4 points, pinning parallel to the raw edges. Once the gathers were "in place", I stitched it all together by hand. I was able to make the whole shrug in less than 2 hours, and didn't even use my machine!

lol i wish i read this before i just made mine 😅 it turned out fine tho ☺
I totally didn’t just make a late night emergency run to Joann’s to get fabric for this because serendipitously there was a big sale that ended tonight (I swear I didn’t make a mess and I was out of the store before they actually closed. Also, thank you for always trying to explain how to find the right measurements, and which areas need to be measured, to adjust your DIYs to match any individual’s size. As a short plus-sized woman it’s really nice to feel included 💖

What type of fabric did you get? I am having trouble finding the right type to use
@AngelicVox
9 ай бұрын
@@schutty21 I got a very soft fleece that has good stretch and isn’t too thick or heavy (in a pretty purple plaid, not that that’s a relevant detail lol). I’m pretty sure the fabric she got is a “specialty fleece” that my Joann shelves near the designer fabric section and the fleece section. You can also go into your local store (even if it’s not a Joann fabrics) and show them the project and ask what they recommend. Keep in mind your own preferences for color, texture, and weight/warmth of the fabric you use. Also patterned fabric can be a pain to line up, so maybe keep that in mind 😅 They should also be able to help guide you with things like “beginner friendly” and “fray-resistant” materials. Good luck! I hope yours turns out well!

@@AngelicVox Thank you so much! This is really helpful and exactly what I needed. I'm in Australia, so no Joann's, but I will talk to my local fabric store to find out their recommendation. Thank you again ❤ I can't wait to make this! It has been living rent free in my head since the video came out! I went to my local store yesterday but was to intimidated and left with nothing. I am now feeling more confident to go back today 😁
Orly! This was so easy, that I went to the store, bought the fabric, measured myself, and SEWED IT BY HAND! I'm wearing it right now! It took me less than 2 hours, including the shopping. I will take it to the sewing machine later, but for now, it's super cool just the way it is. Thank you!

That's what I'm going to have to do! Any tips? Especially for the wrists?
@Sweetlady1916
10 ай бұрын
Yeah, how do the wrist 14:37 by hand?
@irairod5160
10 ай бұрын
@Sweetlady1916 Use very long basting (gathering) stitches. Reduce both the sleeve and the cuff to the proper size. Match the seams. Backstitch to join, then use blanket stitches to finish the interior seam.
I like it as an outfit with skirt and wrap sweater!
This would be cozy for reading in bed in the winter. 🥶 Great idea! Thank you!
For the thicker bulky stuff, you could use a quilting foot which takes the bulk into account.
Amazing! Now I know what I’m making everyone for Christmas! Thank you!❤

What a great idea !
Instead of a cuff you could do some cuts and thread a ribbon. I think that's a little bit easier for someone without or less experiences in sewing 😊
THEYRE CALLED SHRUGS! 😂 they’re from the 90’s and omg I had one in every color and texture.. AND they used to sell just fashion SLEEVES? You remember those? And the little cuffs too? Man I miss 90’s fashion lol. Eff the 2000’s
OMG, I was at JoAnn Fabrics yesterday, drooling over all the knits (all the apparel fabrics are on sale right now too-they’re all 30% off, until September 27, I think?). The shrug scarf is adorable, and I may try to make one, but I admit it’s the skirt I’m extra into. 😍 Looking forward to that video too!
Can’t wait to try it. I work at Joann’s so I can afford to make many colors.
as someone who lives in Florida I LOVE THIS as a way to extend my summer clothes to the christmas season because its only cold in the a/c here😂
I really need to learn how to sew. I love, love all DIY and then get frustrated when sewing machine comes out. Wah… lol thanks for listening. BTW- great job! Adorable! You and the sweater! It is simply an amazing piece. Bravo- take a bow!
That outfit is amazing! You literally put the plain old "infinity dress" to shame! Like infinity dress who?! You created the infinity outfit!
What an ingenious idea! Love all the looks and how versatile this is. Well done, as always!😊
I was looking for a wrap to make to go over a dress for a wedding. I think I found it, this will be perfect in my indigo Satin. Running to Joann’s right now!!
Not only are all your videos amazing and tutorials so easy to follow, but YOUR ENERGY gets me amped to be creative! I love even just listening to your videos while I'm sewing or crocheting. I've stopped projects to try yours too haha thank you!🥰

You are the queen of fashion DIY's, !!!
Thumbholes on the cuff! Yassssss ❤
I love this Orly! This one is Truly ALL ages friendly. Can't wait to see how you made the skirt.
OK, I just found you by some incredible luck, and have been binge-watching your videos. All I can say is WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY INTERNET LIFE?!!!! Your content and personality have me hooked! You and your "Little" are adorable! So many amazing ideas!
YOU ARE FABULOUS! 💎 I do not wear skirts, but I would absolutely wear this one!!
You are answering all my DIY versatile wardrobe dreams one at a time. I am already a sucker for a good wrap scarf. This is another homerun Orly. Thank you for the entire outfit pieces. When you make the skirt video can the length be a tad longer? I don't have nice thin thighs. Thanks so much.
I actually knitted that one wrap version many years ago. I like this version much more!
You're simply amazing, everything in your channel is gold. Thank you!!!!!!!
You make any piece of clothing look elegant and fun! Great job with this scarf, totally inspired a trip to a fabric store 💖✨
This is amazing and I’m so grateful. I bought one of these in the airport in Atlanta several years ago and I absolutely love it and worn it to death. It’ll be nice to be able to make my own and in my own favorite colors!

Hi Orly, Chantal from @knitatude is the designer who designed and sells the knitted pattern at the beginning of your you tube video. Like you Chantal is a small business owner. I'm sure she would of loved a shout out from you, sharing the love between 2 women with small busineses.

Omg!! Making this and will fashion it to accommodate my short plus size body. So cute!!
When your circle is too small to fit onto the arm of your machine, sew on the inside of your circle. That puts all the extra fabric above your foot it makes it easier for you to maneuver it.
I couldn’t wait for this! I hope I find this exact material. I was planning on going to Joann’s today anyway! I am super excited about the skirt too. 😍 Thank you, Orly! You’re the best…arouuuund! 🎶🎶🎶

My favorite is the skirt. Will be copying the idea😊
My mom knitted one for me as a kid, 40 years ago 😂. It was only long enough to fit across my back. Im making one like this! I love it! ❤so beautiful.
You can sew the cuff to the sleeve 1st before sewing the 12 inch arm seam and closing the wrist
Just want to say…You are just a gem of a person. I love watching your videos and get so inspired. Thank you for being you and sharing with all of us! ❤
Honestly, I taught myself how to sew and how to actually make my own patterns and understanding how to do stuff (still learning, still a journey) but I have NEVER seen anyone who inspired me more than you. You make the most simple and yet most beautiful creations on your channel. And honestly, this sleeved scarf, the top, the skirt: full on my aesthetic. I love this. I do have some knit fabric lying around (it's been stored away for over 2 years actually because I knew I wanted to make a dress or two piece out of it but couldn't figure out the style and shape for it yet) and this video really sparked something in me to finally make an actual garment out of it that I can wear this fall and winter season.
Love it ! Really really nice ❤ i already saw your shorts so was very curious. 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing. It's extremely beautiful, but I guess you have to be size 2 to look cool in it.
Orly you are amazing! This DIY is probably one of my favourites you have done.👍
Amazing! Thankyou 🎉🎉🎉
This is a perfect fabric choice, color choice, execution, editing, and styling. Overall winner and very unique.
Ok ok ok.... I'm obsessed AGAIN 😂😂 i LOVE this type of dune/star trek/wars futuristic vibe😌 thank you! I'ma have to make this and tag you if I can ever get the confidence 🥶🤣
This is so cute! I used to crochet wrapping sleeves like this!
Hey Orly, this is a great idea! Checkout, take it easy the voice, Gwen’s denim and black jacket would be a great DIY
Thank you for this!! I am 100% going to make this on the weekend, so thank you for my new project!!
I love how excited you are about it. This will be great Christmas gifts.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! I am sooo making it..thank you Orly..1000 times thanks ❤❤
So versatile. The monochromatic outfit looked so cute!
I knitted the scarf that you show and its so cozy but now i want this sewn version with the skirt! Can't wait for that video to drop. I think they'd be perfect for travel since they wouldn't crush and you can mix and match.
You are very talented and I appreciate that you take the time to show us all the different ways to wear the beautiful creations that you 've made. Lots of love and light.
Oh my gosh I love that! And I love that tube-top you made as well, I never realized it would be easy as just sewing a big piece of fabric into a tube and then pulling it over and then making spaghetti straps for it! Knowing that would have been very helpful at the beginning of Summer, but maybe I could still use it during the winter because I could play around with scarves for warmth, including this one!
LOVE THIS. The different tube tops you could make, like with a funky elastic. ❤

The beige outfit is truly beautiful! I have to try the top, scarf or whatever to call it. I love it! Thanks Orly
The best part of this kind of thing is it's a great accessory for the sexy ladies and the modest ladies like me! We have a few knits that my roommate doesn't want so I might make a few......
Omg! It's beautiful 😍 I just saw this video last night and had to go for fabric shopping today. Unfortunately I didn't find the type of material you have but something nice and just finished my scarf/top woohoo!!! It's amazing!!! And I wouldn't call myself fluent with sawing, but your instructions are so clear and easy to follow 😉 Thank you so much 😊 skirt is next, I hope that I manage that too. Thank you 😊 💓
I love this idea. Great! Thanks!
This is so clever. Love it. I can’t wait to see how you made the skirt next. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these videos.
Really really nice🥰
Hey love! This is so pretty and I am so glad you used my videos as inspo! If you could, please tag my shop and give it credit in your description. I would really appreciate it, plus it would really help another small business out as I do sell the knitting patterns for them. Cheers!
Love this. Hate showing my arms and this will give me so many more clothing options to wear. Might make it shorter as to being just enough to cover my arms.
As it gets colder again I have desperately wishing I could do my errands in my fluffy robe - this will be the perfect alternative, still fluffy and looks warm (over another top, at least), while being more "socially acceptable" to wear outside the house hahaha
Ooooooh! This is so aammaazzzzziiiing! I’m going to Italy in October, and have to make this for chilly nights😊 Thanks Orly. The longer length makes it so much more versatile and stylish.
I love this and will be on the lookout for a fabric like this but in dark grey or black, maybe ombre
I was just hunting on Amazon for this very thing! I will have to see if I can get my sewing machine to behave. Thank you so much for showing me I can do it myself and for guidance as to how! And yes, you got me to subscribe!😊
You are awesome- my sisters are getting this for Christmas!
❤❤❤❤❤ okay......i might have to try actual sewing! I NEED THIS!❤❤❤

Heading to thrift stores tomorrow for knit scarves ❤
Once again you blow my mind! 🤯😁
I absolutely love it! Can’t wait for the skirt video although I might have to figure it out cuz I’m going to TN for a horse show and it’ll be adorable with cowgirl boots and comfy as heck!
You can also use the lines on your hardwood floor
This is SO my style language! Sexy but comfortable and a bit off the beaten path! Definitely running to JoAnnes next weekend!
