Sex, lies and murder: Who killed brothel madam Shirley Finn? | Australian Story

We go behind the scenes at the inquest into one of Australia’s most chilling cold cases, the 1975 murder of Perth brothel madam Shirley Finn.
From the outset, rumours of police and political involvement swirled around the case, many believing that Shirley Finn was silenced when she threatened to reveal the secrets of powerful figures in Western Australia.
When we last visited the story, Shirley Finn’s daughter Bridget Shewring and author Juliet Wills had succeeded in obtaining a coronial inquest after a decade-long battle
Australian Story follows the two women through the twists and turns of the inquiry as they grapple with new allegations of police and political corruption and we hear from crucial witnesses, fronting the cameras for the first time.

    So the only people who had a motive were the certain police who threatened her life, the only other trouble was the tax man & he had nothing to gain by killing her, nice of the police to set her up with her killer, telling her this was the person who could help her. The higher up the person is that's going to go down the more likely they are to have her killed! This crime should not go unpunished!

    I have never heard anything like that. Absolutely shocking, to think of saying that let alone saying that to a journalist, but to laugh like that. He obviously believed he was above any accountability and a cold blooded murder was of no significance. It was literally a laughing matter, that guy wasn't just criminal he was off kilter. So good that Shirley's daughter looked for the truth, It looks like they have found the truth but it's not been proved.

    OFF TOPIC: I was just reading about the Ita Buttrose's "Australia Talks" project on the ABC website (The ABC's new Australia Talks project surveyed more than 50,000 Aussies to find out who we are, where we're headed, and what we care about.). Can anyone else see the Irony in the Chair of the ABC Ita Buttrose's "Australia Talks" project when the ABC News (Australia) KZread page has the Comments Turned Off? It appears only a unidirectional information flow is allowed; any cross-flow of information is banned.

  • @animalfarm7467

    @animalfarm7467

    3 жыл бұрын

    @TwentyPassFour - AU : Be very careful accepting any form of censorship and especially censorship of opinion or "fact". Just look at the omission of stories by the ABC (e.g. 250 million person strike in India; the recent unrest in France due to new legislation to stop protestors filming the police) or the now debunked "Russiagate" narrative, or the oppression of the whistleblowers from the OPCW exposing the narrative behind the Syrian attacks, or Bolton threatening the head of the OPCW saying, "I know where your children live". If you aren't the author of the comment, how do you know what information has been removed due to "trolls" and what information has been removed to create propaganda by omission? Just look at the media blackout in the US of the information on Biden's son's laptop exposing what Biden knew of his son's business dealings just before the election. I'm certainly no Trump fan, but this is clearly intervening in the remnants of the democratic process. Be very careful allowing the Atlantic Council controlled Facebook and Google moderators of truth to tell you what is real and what is fake. And now as the Washington vassal state of Australia is sacrificed on the alter to allow the Anglo-American empire to threaten China, it's more important than ever to keep aware of what is potentially a plethora of propaganda coming down the pike. So it just coincidental if you give a narrative explaining in detail the propaganda by omission, or you post a comment that invokes thought on a controversial topic, your comment is removed?

When police "arrived to investigate him", he was openly eating / peeling an orange..... citrus acids remove gunpowder residue. Police turned a blind eye and the bikies knew so they monitored his routine etc. unfortunately, lou lewis (a bookie) was in the car going to the races with him and was killed too. He was the father of my school mate Bradley lewis! fancy that? Oh - Hancock came to Lou's house that day and Lou drove. Unusually, he had a trailer and a just completed cubby house on it (no doubt for delivery to a relative). I found that unusual when mum called and I witnessed the mess.... it was a big bomb.

    Because, she was actually her partner, within a de facto relationship. I do realise that it is still clear what they were trying to convey. However, what was wrong with somebody pointing out the error?

    She reserved it. Perhaps Someone taking the law in her or his own hand , which was wrong. . Why didn't she sell herself and her own daughters?. God knows how many of those girls were forced and she earned money out of those poor girls.

    @@dawnegan3984 a person who sells young vulnerable women and makes a fortune out of them and does money laundering can not be a decent woman. Did she sell herself and her daughters as well? I don't think so. She is better off dead.
