Sex Before Marriage Is Amazing (But It's Destructive) | David Marvin

Saving sex for marriage may seem old fashioned. Society tells you to try before you buy, but sex is dangerous outside of the purpose it was designed for. In this message, we look at 1 Corinthians 6:13-7:4 to learn why sex is amazing but destructive.

    That's so awesome! I'm 25 and used to wish that I was a virgin (at least until marriage, if it's God's will). However, I don't feel regretful about it anymore 'cause God's gonna use that. But, man! What a blessing purity is.

    Sex before marriage is only amazing for as long as it last and its only amazing because of a chemical reaction in the mind. Sex after marriage has both physical and spiritual pleasure, that makes it worth the weight. Besides your combining your soul with that person for the rest of your life, why would you waste it on someone thats a hookup or someone that you think you love. If you actually love him or her, wait till they are ready to make that commitment to you and have made that commitment to you. Then you enjoy eachother for the glory of God

    One thing is to save yourself for the one you marry. The other thing is to not have another option. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have committed to stay pure and holy - and God is answering my prayers by not letting anybody come even close who is not supposed to be there. On the one hand I get tired sometimes because I asked God to send the One finally and he takes his time. On the other side I know for sure this is for somebody out there: Keeping yourself pure is worth it!! Just imagine, it is something only between you and the one you trust your life with. And imagine, nobody is going to compare to or fantasize about any other experience... What a pure experience! It is worth it! Keep on trusting, praying, staying pure. Set your focus right. Sex or marriage is not for eternity, but purity and not sinning is. And also: We never are entitled to a partner. It is what God gifts. Ask and you'll receive. That's it. Am not going to preach here, watch the video. But let my testimony be yours. God bless.

    But if Sex has permanence, then that actually bothers me, because my gf has had sex before she met me, so how do I deal with that? Even after forgiving her?

  • @Bunnyinthebasement

    @Bunnyinthebasement

    The blood of Jesus can break all bad soul ties. If your gf has laid her past relationship before Jesus, then she can be free from remaining ties to other partners. Remember, Rahab the harlot who helped the spies escape Jericho married an Israelite man and became the mother of Boaz, from the Book of Ruth. As such, Rahab became not only the ancestor of King David, but Jesus Himself. Also the Book of Hosea deals with a prophet who was ordered by God to marry a prostitute (to illustrate how the Israelites were committing adultery against God by worshipping idols), and Hosea continued to love his wife, even when she was unfaithful to him. These are the extreme cases, of course, but even if your gf has had multiple partners, Jesus can still heal everything and give you a loving, godly relationship and future marriage.

    Some thoughts: - Some women extremely do _not_ bond with their new infant, and it can be incredibly painful and even give rise to postpartum depression when they’re told over and over how beautiful the instant bond is, that they by design felt upon birth completion. We tell them how much they love their baby, while they know inside they don’t even like the baby. Obviously bonding with your child is extremely important, but I’m js - for many mothers, it happens later, or even not at all. - My former spouse (they left, not me, and it was for reasons related to their parents being upset they left the family religion) and I waited until marriage to have sex. All we’d ever done before that was kiss. It was great, and we were very compatible, and learned to really bring each other a lot of joy and pleasure and togetherness through it. But.. it was never a part of our real bond for me. It was a fun and excited shared interest that promoted teamwork with somebody I felt bonded to, sure, but the sex itself did not ever - not once - make me feel in love with them or bonded to them. And no, it wasn’t because my tape was unsticky.. Like I said: virgins when we married; I’d only even kissed one other person (someone I dated for a year). Oxytocin serves an extremely important purpose, and it’s important for MOST people’s ability to bond, but some people (such as myself, I suspect) are genuinely “oxytocin deficient.” My bond with them was a cognitive one; a deep, significant soul bond, but not one spurred on by oxytocin. We were together 7y and I didn’t ever even want to cuddle after; I just wanted to do something else 🤷🏻 Also, I think the duct tape analogy is very flawed. A better analogy would be: the duct tape is ripped off, it really hurts...and then _a new piece of duct tape is applied to that skin,_ and it is ripped off. This second one hurts even worse, because it was fresh tape! But over time, as the hairs are ripped out and dead skin is sluffed, it’ll end up very similar to waxing: the skin will be tough and handle pain better, but also smooth and silky and thus better able to connect with the stickiness of new pieces of tape (or a new piece, maybe for good; doesn’t have to be several). Also, tape often relaxes over time and comes off on its own, with little to no pain...like relationships where you’ve drifted apart. - So much about this talk presumes pain is BAD and should be avoided. What about being forged in a fire? Is it not also possible that the pain of breakups can be purifying and fortifying? - There’s also an assumption that not only should we avoid this one specific type of pain, but we should also aim to suffer as few losses, big and small, as possible when it comes to love. That’s very small minded imo. Loss, like pain, should not be avoided! It should be felt, understood, acknowledged, and assimilated. It is part of this rich spectrum of the lifeforce God imbued us with, and an integral piece of the cycle that underpins all of creation. So, in summary: If you want to stay comfortable and away from pain, don’t ever put a single piece of tape on unless you’re reasonably certain it’ll NEVER be taken off. And even then, if it tries to rip off, do not let it. But if you want to flow with Life’s river, growing and becoming enriched - so that you can in turn enrich the world around you - humbly accept both losses and gains that come your way, with childlike wonder, and childlike grief. He gives and takes away, after all. Don’t seek to deny His gift to you of loss; accept it with tears like you accept his gift of gain with those same tears.

    @@jessyjonas4988 "Sex Before Marriage Is Amazing (But It's Destructive) " is the title of the sermon. God designed sex to be amazing for humanity, which is why so many people have sex and culture is extremely sexualized. It's always amazing regardless of before or after marriage because sex was made and created by God. It's extremely destructive prior to marriage because sex binds people to each other. The point he is making in the sermon is that God set those boundaries and rules to make it that much more special for everyone involved. You don’t have to use the Bible to talk about the love of God. Your judgement shows that your relationship with God is where you truly lack. You MUST get closer to God. Don’t lean on Man for their word. Lean on God. He has the answers. These type of messages aren’t for everyone. But don’t knock this man for spreading a message. It can lead someone to Christ. And that’s the goal. We all are unworthy, yet God loves us anyway. Including that man on stage who is doing what he can to spread the Gospel. Even if he didn’t use one Bible verse. God is Love. That book was written by Man. Call God!
