Sewn with Love: Fonda Kay's Handmade Wedding Dress

In 1985, Fonda Kay Hatten walked down the aisle in the wedding dress of her dreams - a lace and bead-covered gown handmade by her mother, Anna Lynn Hatten. Our Curator of History, Kisha Tandy, tells this incredible story of a mother's love and a dress with stories in every stitch.
Thank you to Meghan Smith, our conservation lab manager, for her assistance in telling this wonderful story.

"It is this whole idea of being able to tell different parts of the community history through a wedding dress." I enjoy this aspect of the video; not only is the dress a beautiful piece of folk art itself, but as an artifact it carries an emotional significance, a cultural significance, and the connections between the family & community's past & our present.
