I wove a homemade braid from a soft 10 mm jute rope.
The width of the braid comes out about 19-20 mm, the height is about 7-7.5mm.
From a 26m length of rope, 24m braids turned out.
It is not necessary to weave too tightly.
The rope in combination with the scythe took 6 mm thick, I think 8 soft rope will do well.
It is best to weave it on the street, of course there is a lot of garbage, but at this stage you will be able to remove all wood inclusions and the color of the braid will be uniform and clean.
I have here a stitch pitch of 3mm, width of 6mm.
