Can't wait for your next video. How nice teaching your sister sewing. I do regret so much not to learn from my mom. She was a teacher but when I born she stayed home and sew for ppl to help in the house. She always created the patterns unique for each of her clients. They were amazed how she could design dresses, this was before patterns and magazines. I did sew for my kids when they were young. Now, you inspired me to do it for me, for my enjoyment. Thank you very much

Hate that HL no longer has pattern sales. I do like that their fabric goes on sale every other week, same for buttons and trims. That said, there’s nothing like a pattern sale to motivate me to go crazy on fabric purchases!

I agree with you!! I love to shop at Hobby Lobby vs JoAnn's!! But, when I inquired about no more patterns on sale, was told, "it was a Corporate decision to discontinue their sales". Well, the more patterns you SELL, the MORE FABRIC & NOTIONS you will sell! Simple economics.

It’s been since they closed during the pandemic. I too look at the ad every Sunday.

You are blessed my girl,in south Australia there i# no more new look patterns,and the others cost between $20-29 each

I’ve been to hobby lobby so many times and no patterns on sale, I asked the employee about it and she didn’t know anything either😜

It seems like everyone who has anything to do with fabric just assumes that people make quilts, and that's all. Glad you are making some noise. I feel like a Who living on a ball of lint sometimes. We are here, we are here, we are here.

I have had one of those magnets since I started making my own clothes way back when I was 11. (I am now 64). My grandmother worked in a factory that package sewing notions for DeLong Scovil. If the packaging broke or was faulty they were allowed to bring the broken packages home. So all those years ago she gave me the magnet along with lots of other supplies.

Roselyn, I email the hobby lobby two weeks ago about reinstating the pattern sales.

I live in Australia. I only wish we could get patterns for that price. We pay $20.00 or more

I wish our patterns were that cheap. Here in Australia we pay $16 for a New Look pattern and that’s one of the cheap ones. The other pattern companies are more expensive!

I'm glad you addressed the Hobby Lobby lack of pattern sales. I received a Hobby Lobby gift certificate for Christmas and I've not been in because I was waiting for a pattern sale. No sale, no visit to the store. When I go in, I always buy more than patterns, however, without the sale I don't bother going in.

I was thinking the same thing about Hobby Lobby pattern sales. And I have to admit, I do look on Sundays at the new ad. So sad that Joann’s is the only sales I find anymore. My Joann’s is 40 minutes away. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I hate tracing also. I’d take those patterns to the copy shop and print them out. Easier cutting out! I did this with my Burda book patterns.

I'm helping a 13 year old to learn to sew. We too sew every Thursday.

I remember the clerk cutting my fabric saying that the pattern sales were going away. As expensive as they are you would think there's quite a bit of room for a discount.

Maybe you could take those pattern pages to an office supply store and have it copied on large paper single sided 🧐 just a thought. Maybe more people should call hobby lobby just to inquire. They would probably wonder what the heck is going on, I never knew there were so many people interested in sewing 🤩

I am cracking up about the pattern sale LACK at hobby Lobby because I noticed that TOO. Glad you are trying to find the answer of us! On another note, I don't know if your viewers also know that when Simplicity is on sale at JoAnn's MOST of the New Look patterns will be $1.99 as well. SOME of them remain at $3.99. But its worth checking when you go for Simplicity.

So glad I'm not the only one wondering this.

Hello Viv. I want to thank you for contacting Hobby Lobby. I have been doing the same as you. I check every Sunday too. I always end up buying fabric and other things when I’m in there. I thought about contacting them when I started my channel. I had to put it on hold because of a family tragedy. I want to let people that have watched and subscribed know what is going on but I just can’t talk about it on camera yet. I’ve also had some health set backs. I haven’t given up because the Lord has been my strength as he promises. I don’t know how people make it without Him. I am going to get back to it. I think Hobby Lobby will listen to you because you speak so eloquently. The word could also be put out across KZread and Facebook for people to contact them if they feel the same way. I too am glad you are checking into why HL doesn’t have the pattern sales anymore. I also really wanted to buy one of those magnetic sew guides but read that they aren’t recommended for use on a computerized machine. Love the book you got. Will have to keep my eyes open for that one.

If it needs to be really accurate, you have to measure because a quilter said he was off on his blocks I think he quit using it. Not sure he measured so it corrected it. Happy for your sister sewing

Hi Viv. I keep track of the pattern sales by posting them on my calendar. The last post I have for Hobby Lobby is Sept. 2021. I have asked about it several times. Finally, someone told me that the pattern company dictates when the patterns go on sale, not Hobby Lobby. She said HL has nothing to do with it. I tend to believe this. I worked in retail for many years and the designer brands always dictated how and when their products would be marketed. The store had to comply, per the contracts. Thank you for looking into it and please keep us posted. I would love it if they reversed course. My HL is within walking distance, whereas JoAnns is 18 miles away!

A few days ago I was helping a friend sort through some old patterns left to her by a relative. I was so excited to find a 1969 SEW-KNIT-N-STRETCH nightgown pattern by Kerstin Martensson in fabulous condition. I might have squealed!! I told her this was an absolute treasure she should keep. She gave it to me to make each of us a nightgown and then I'll return it. I wouldn't have known this pattern is a treasure without you educating us about Kerstin Martensson! P.S. As a cat mom to 9 I picked up on one of your babies chatting during your video. ♡♡♡♡

I finally paid a visit to HL last week and asked a worker about the pattern sales too. Glad you went straight to the top to inquire.

We just got a hobby lobby close to where I live. I love my magnet for keeping my seams straight & the right size. Yes Viv mom it’s been a hot July here in Virginia. I’m in the Hampton Roads Area. We had to tuff it out for 8 days as our Air Conditioner broke down. Needless to say not much sewing got done here either. Got a new one and staying nice & cool & catching up on my sewing.

Yay for the Kwik sew find. I found 2 patterns recently, am amassing a small collection. I think of it as preserving the genius of Kirsten Martensson.

Hobby Lobby has also done away with their 40% off coupon for one item. At least that’s what the girl told when I tried to find the coupon on line so I could use like I’ve always done in the past. Not sure when that happened but it took me by surprise. I always used that coupon when I needed to buy something that wasn’t on sale. Things are changing and not for the good. That book was a great find. If anybody can use those patterns to make up to date stylish clothes, it would be you Viv! Happy sewing!

I have wondered the same thing about Hobby Lobby but would never have thought of calling headquarters. You are so dedicated! Both Hobby and Joann are a 2 hour round trip drive for me so I don’t go anymore since gas is over $6 a gallon in California. Plus I really don’t need patterns anyway. 😏 Love seeing you on YT.

My guess is they stopped doing the pattern sales around the dance time that they discontinued their coupons that they used to have every week. Too bad. But I still shop there when they have the fabric sales if I need something. I hope they get back to you!

I’m so happy you’re teaching your sister to sew. My sister really never liked it. But when I moved out of the house to get married she just HAD to have a sewing machine. But she really didn’t have the desire. I think she still doesn’t. Love the Kwik sew book.

Thank you Viv. I have not gone to Hobby Lobby for a very long time since my surprise cancer surgery in March, and therefore, away from all the sewing stuff because the chemo treatments really wears one out and even affected my eye sight and was told to wait until my treatments have finished before visiting the Optometrist for new glasses. Chemo basically poisons one's entire body. So much happens to it. This came to me as a shock, since my general practitioner missed it....haha....that's life....I could go on and on but I am trying to at least have the energy to get to the computer and watch you and some other gals. Good for you! I have sorely missed those sales. I love to go into HL but discovered that I too have quit going in except in October when the Christmas trees arrive. The people are so lovely at HL and it would be preferable to give them my business over Joann.

I have been an avid sewer since the age of 13…OMG that’s 60 years of sewing.. well I have to say that after the 80s I gave up on commercial patterns..I had an amazing collection of designer patterns and better still the Betsy Johnson and Biba patterns from the 60s ( still have some) and enough knowledge to piece things together…one of the pattern text books used the phrase “ Blend and Compromise” its my mantra! There is no way in the world I would pay more than 99 cents for a one piece pattern…anyway thanks for the great show…keep them coming…cheers

I had just bought that Kwik sew book last month. I set it aside once I realized the patterns are printed on both sides and that I would have to trace them....I’ve been focusing on summer tops. Will get around to tracing eventually.

Our Joanne's closed 7 years ago and we only have Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart here (our town has 100k residents, so not the smallest and not the largest). I was not happy when they discontinued the 40% coupons. Have to wait and strategize since everything goes on sale, usually every other week.

I wondered the same thing. Even JoAnne's hasn't had sales listed in their flyers the first part of this year. This week they have had Butterick on sale $1.99 and Vogue $4.99. I still haven't seen Simplicity and McCall's on sale at my JoAnne's. I hope it is not a product of the takeover by the new company with the dumb name.

I asked the same question last year to the clerk. She just laughed and said they put them on sale when they fell like it so....

Hi Viv, good to see you again. I love and collect the old kwik sew patterns too and i love the thick paper that they were printed on back then as well.

First off, this HAS been a very hot summer in north Texas - apparently it has also been hit everywhere! And we are desperate for rain! Grassfires have caused house fires in several suburbs in the DFW area - many were total losses. Praying for relief for all of us! Really appreciate all the info you shared!
