Very beautiful project!! I like projects in which we can go outside and take inspiration. Sewellia spp. habitat must have a similar looking to some of our rivers in the highly-oxygenated headwaters. The best luck, I wait for news!

+Carlos Díez Me to, I have also taken a lot of photos from around the world, which I draw inspiration from. I think the next update will be in 4 weeks time, I need a lot of algae in this tank! - Thanks for commenting

+Scott Adams I have always wanted to try a high flow Asian tank, so this species was perfect for this project. If I can get the flow high enough, then I'm positive I can make them breed :)

+Glen Hawkins (GuppyGuy) Thank you, If only the tank had a little more algae, my lfs have some very beautiful mature fish right now, but I have to wait for the tank to mature

Keep the lighting longer than normal and algae should start appearing fairly quickly. Looking forward to seeing the fish.

I have read info about Sewellia lineolata. I think it hard for you to make them breed, this fish live in the high flow, well-oxygenated and some hard condition...But I believe you can make it. Looking forward to seeing the part 2

Hi, I have setup a similar scape inspired by yours. How long should I wait before I add the fish? I already have a mature external filter.

A week or 2 should be adequate, just be ready to do some big water changes till they are settled in.

Glad you like my tank. The air is on all the time, my S. lineolata really likes it and the tank is made for them, beside that is my plants growing like crazy :) I only use a 10w led flood light over the tank, like I do in most of my tanks, and they work amazing for plant growth. I use river gravel - sand over dirt and lily clay. Thanks for watching - commenting

Hello I need a quick help. I noticed microscopic sewellia fry in my hillstream tank, 1 day old. There are mountain cloud minnow in the same tank, should I remove mountain cloud minnows, do they predate on fry of other fish?. I ask because you have had them in your breeding setup tank and it looks like the sewellia fry made it... Can you give me advice if I should remove the mountain cloud minnow ? What do sewellia fry feed on, there is sufficient algae in the tank...

I don't think you will need to remove the minnows if your S. lineolata fry have sufficient places to hide. For feeding feed what you usually feed, but crush some of it, the most important is to do as many water changes as possible.

do you heat the tanks/greenhouse in the winter? what size tank do you use?

  • @dendrochiruszebra9063

+Kevin Bretscher I only use my greenhouses in the summertime. Most of my tanks are unheated, I only use heaters when I breed or condition fish for breeding. I mainly use 54l. 60x30x30 cm. tanks and 80l. tubs inside
