Love the vintage looks and styles of the fabrics and quilt images. My grandma would sew many dresses and skirts for my sister and I. The scraps were then put into a scrappy nine patch quilt! Great memories!

I love how you have placed the fabrics in a variety of your patterns. Some patterns I haven’t seen in a long time if I have seen them before todays show. I have access to all the early books. Nice to see this array of fabrics in the earlier patterns. Thanks, Fran.

Hello Fran I love watching fabric matchmaker. The fabrics that are submitted are always a surprise!! Which is the best part in the beginning of the process. Then of course I love seeing the fabrics you match up, with the fabric submitted. But out of all of the processes I like seeing the images shown at the end. Which includes the fabric submitted, and your fabric pics. Bringing the quilt altogether. I think it's a great process. Looking forward to seeing more of your shows. Thanks for all your time and effort 😁❤️

Another wonderful use of Three Yard Quilt Patterns. (One vintage plus 2 new fabrics in the pattern of choice, YEA!) I've been secretly using 1950s fabrics combined with 2 new fabrics and Fabric Cafe Patterns. Now I can openly share using vintage. Everyone receiving one of these quilts has commented on the unusual combination of fabrics. My favorite quilt includes the vintage fabric that was cut out in pieces to make a 1950s dress with circular skirt. Recutting the dress pieces into the "Dash" pattern was so easy. Thank you for leading the way to use vintage with new!

Hey Fran! Love these ideas! With all of the holidays we celebrate, would you and your team be able to put together a book showcasing table squares or runners from your patterns? I would also love to see a book with patterns that use a stripe fabric. I know that several years ago you created a video, but thought it would be great to see striped fabric ideas in a book format.

Loved the first quilt you ‘matched’. Not a big fan of the 60’s vibe but this was so cute! Also thought that last fabric looked so good. Made me think ‘little girl’. Perfect! And the fabric you chose for the kit was so close to the original that if you hadn’t pointed it out, I might have believed it to be the same! Great pattern choices too.

Hmm, maybe to determine if fabric is cotton or poly/cotton blend? Many vintage fabrics were marketed as ‘permapress’, and quite popular back in the day….

@@dorothydecesare1607 how can I tell the difference. Is there a test.

  • @dorothydecesare1607

Not sure because I was a little girl then, but I think my mom would try scrunching the fabric in her hand. The perma press material would not wrinkle whereas the all cotton would wrinkle. She also sometimes would take a few threads of the fabric and light them with a match. ( safely of course, maybe over the sink ). The all cotton would smell differently from poly cotton blend. Perhaps 🤔 some of the other viewers can remember these tricks? Hope it helps. I do know that my mom used all sorts of fabrics, cotton, poly cotton, wools, a lot of unknowns in her quilts because she grew up in the Depression era and that is just what you did! Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without! The quilts were made with love and kept us warm at night…..🥰
