Beautiful severums, I enjoy watching the courting behavior and egg-laying. A lot more complex than livebearers where they just chase the female around lol.

Sailfin Aquatics fun to watch

That's so cool. I just ordered two Red Soulders and a Gold for my 75 gallon.

It is quite interesting. At one point I could see both their breeding tubes. Beautiful fish.

Hmmmm I’ve been watching my 2 greens & they’ve been doing this lip locking, thought they were fighting tho, bc it’s one green and one gold that have historically spawned. I’m guessing w my 2 greens i must have a male and a female. GOOD TO KNOW! Thanks dude.

I have a question please I have a mated pair of golden severums they have been breeding for over a year and have had many clutches none of the eggs have made it past 4 days they always seem to turn white fungus what am I doing wrong I have added methylene blue kept the water very clean I don't understand why I'm not getting any fry thank you

My female Severum laid eggs before 2 days from today, both the parents were taking care of it. I have kept them into separate tank (3ft Long & 1.6ft wide). But all eggs became infertile. Eggs color chaged to white. Why did this happen? How to take care from next for successful hatching?

The content I believe I have a pair around 8 months old.The bigger more colorful one i have started doing that shaking seen in this video

Yeah I'm 99% sure mine are doing this but my male isnt having any of it. He just wants to lock lips everytime the female makes a move. She also is going hardcore at his back fins just latching on.

Hey Bran... I am thinking of getting a couple for my JD tank. They are so beautiful!! They are definitely paired! I love it when they shake their heads. Elvis does that too...but he has no potential mate!

My 2 red spotted severums were doing this earlier will it be ok to leave the blood parrots in there when the eggs go down or no ?

Salvation. I have one of my severus who has gone wild. I think he's a male because he's the biggest of all. He hunts the others and plucks the algae on a wall always in the same place. I tell myself that he may be preparing a surface for laying eggs. It's hard to tell the difference between girls and boys. The other 3 buddies are quite light yellow while he is bright yellow. thanks for the video. I will continue to observe. greetings

How long does it take for fry ? My 2 severums are currently doing this but they are not in a tank by themselves..

hope they do spawn, hatch eggs and give huge number of fries. I once see two females both laying eggs , then they consume it. This just pissed me off, hahahahahaha , nice work my friend, keep it up.

A very hearty cichlid. Get big, not high maintenance fish. Can surge and flourish well in decent water parameters. Mine are constantly spawning, they get crazy aggressive during this time, and every time thus far they’ve eaten em. Even if I remove the eggs w the parents. Even if I remove the parents the eggs go all white. Meaning their obviously dead to anyone who’s a hobbiest

Lol...get outta here...I started with. Severums and they acted his way...A LOT. and I thought it was male on male aggression so I rehomed one. I'm so mad at myself now because they where 100% doing this ..
