My theater group threw together this music number for our band director who was retiring. Me being in the band and in the number it was so fun to see our director smile

I remember this song man. I had to sing it in like third grade and now finally in 7th grade I have to play it (this song is legit haunting me)

I listen most frequently to the Robert Preston version of this soundtrack, and in that version, the line 'seventy six trombones hit the counterpoint' is sung by the ensemble, and with so many voices singing, it sonud like 'seventy six trombones, I think we've got the point'

we sang a slightly different version of this song in choir for the first concert of my senior year of high school. one of my favorite songs we've ever sang

I love that you don’t march with tympani or bassoons. It shows you that he’s really just pulling stuff out of the air

I'm a trombone player and this is the first time I've heard this song. NO SONGS TOPS THIS SONG. I'm a band geek that's very giddy and listening to this. YEEEEEEEEEEEE!

My school is putting this play on right now, this weekend was opening weekend, and hearing this song in someone else's voice is quite strange to me. I don't even know the song very well because I'm a technician within the play, but still strange to me.

I remember when i was really little, I did a tap dance routine for this song at this dance school I attended at the time. I regret it so much, but the boy who introduced my group's routine by portraying Harold Hills was really cute, ngl.

My pop was singing this today smiling hes 84 still strong. Just had to here it myself 😀

I am doing this for my spring play and I just got the part of Harold hill. OMG I love this song!

I played harold hill at the local theater I go to it was lots of fun i made a deal with the theater director I told the theater director I'll play harold hill only if I get to do 76 trombones if I don't no harold hill the director said I'm sorry nick you don't get to 76 trombones I told the director then I won't play harold hill goodbye the director said wait nick I changed my mind you get to do 76 trombones I was just playing with you I had a good laugh afterwards I told the director I'll get you for that

Finally, a 76 Trombones video I can sing along with! But it doesn't seem to include the last little bit, which is my favorite part. Also, to anyone who complains that the lyrics here say "heart" instead of "harch," I would like to ask, what does harch mean? No, really, I'm asking. But what I really like about this video is the picture of Matthew Broderick here. I don't care what anyone says, the remake was head and shoulders above the original. Remakes often are.

No band starts marching to "Harch, Harch, Harch!" It's typically whistles or "Band! Ten Hut!"

The part heart! Heart! Heart! Is not heart it is harch! Harch!hatch! And how do I know I am in 5th grade and I learned this in music class today and it was also in our music books and we also watched THE MUSIC MAN so ya just saying;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

I didn't know that The Music Man was another team effort of Matthew Broderick and Disney Studios! It must've been an earlier work! I'm more familiar with their team effort in Inspector Gadget, which came out while I was in middle school!

The idea of 76 trombones is it is SUPPOSED to sound over the top and ridiculous, he's selling the idea of getting the whole town's youth in a marching band instead of up to no good on the streets; he's also selling band uniforms and doesn't want to leave anyone out. its meant to inspire the parents and encourage the kids that there's room for EVERYONE! of course it's over the top, that's the idea! And the "harch! harch! harch!" is only a rhyming word for march. That's it.
