Narrow gauge DC voltage versions of the contemporary single deckers in Bombay would have looked good in Brisbane in the late 1940s or early 1950s and you wouldn't have had to wait until 1979. While you're at it retain the Cleveland and Southport lines and electrify them in a well-devised post World War Two capital works program.

LOL trains from the 1979 are STILL running... there are a LOT less 38 year old cars on the road
