Seven Hills of Edinburgh Challenge and Race 2019
Every year since 1980, on a Sunday in June, a few hundred hardy individuals take part in one of the most unusual running events in the country, The Seven Hills of Edinburgh - a combination of road-running, cross-country, hill-running, and urban orienteering... 14.3 miles in length and with 2200 feet of ascent/descent.
It attracts runners of all ages and all abilities - from the leading distance-runners who get round in 100 minutes, to the more modest performers who may take up to 4 hours. But they all enjoy the satisfaction of completing one of the most scenic and challenging of sporting courses.

I was there in November 1994... NOW I know when that race happens. I saw signs, but no dates on them... And I didn't ask anyone... REALLY nice town.. At least the old downtown part.. Didn't see the rest. All of those old buildings near the bottom of the valley, just by the river seemed like they were a hobbit town.. Not because they were really small, just the place itself and the look of everything. And you couldn't hear ANY sounds from the city above... I went all over the island, and that was one of my two best places. The other being York, the viking village underground, and those big nasty peacocks in the garden (by the University???) they kept on poking my hip because I had sunflower seeds in my pocket and they they saw me eating some. Didn't enjoy Tintagel and Land's End that much though. I thought those were mostly tourist traps. Maybe it's all different now..

I had to lay it down to run the water through my hair. I put it in the bin after!!! 😂

@@Piechipsbeans Haha, thank you!!! With the GoPro I only had one spare hand! Have you done the race? It's a real challenge, on a par with a Marathon I'd say!

@@gordonsheach Yeah I did it for the first time on Sunday. It was more brutal than I imagined! The tougher the challenge the bigger the sense of achievement though 👍 My calfs are still complaining! 😅
