Just a small correction, this ship does have an improved pen angle, but instead of the 55/65 from the stalin or the 60/67.5 from the Americans, she only gets a 50/65 improved pen angle. So a lot of the time, it would make players feel like she does not have an improved pen angle since the improvement is almost negligible to mediocre at best, but she does have it at her disposal.

The dispersion graphs were really misinformed though. Comparing dispersion in the horizontal plane is almost useless, as it unreasonably favors high and floaty shell arcs and will only really tell you how well you'd hit the enemy ship if it was a flat 2-dimesional disc on the surface of the water. Siegfried is not actually significantly more accurate than Sevastopol, the graph just favors Siegfried because Sevastopol (and Stalingrad) has much flatter shell arcs than her.

A ship that has its own strengths, weaknesses and that "something different" fun-factor but doesn't power creep the game. Put simply, this is what we need more of. Nice review, really informative and the effort put in really shows.

Love when WG goes crazy on ships like this one, or Incomparable for that matters, way more interesting than super ships and forced gimmicks

The turret looks like the German turret since it is a 38cm gun that the Soviet Union bought from Germany in order to arm the Kronshtadt since work on the 30.5 cm gun was slow. However, the ship need to be redesigned in order to fit them and the gun was never delivered due to the outbreak of Operation Barbarossa.

This ship is based on a German design. One ship was actually built in Germany. Both Kronschtadt and her russian sister Sevastopol (Projekt 69-I _not_ 69l) were never finished and were a redesign of the original German design. Both were supposed to be retrofitted with German guns. The original German design, and German made ship, was never delivered due obvious reasons, but was, unlike the russian version, nearly finished. It got scrapped later, for repairs and retrofitting Scharnhorst - the superseded design. Which at this point was nearly 5 years old.

Look up the design development of Scharnhorst and Projekt 19 and then go back to fucking school... Because you obviously do not know, that Stalin had all his men killed, and was starved for actual capable designers and engineers, *and* had a trade deal with Germany, which not only, but also explicitly included military designs.

The silent majority decided they want a xenomorph boarding party. Xenomorphs can capture enemy ships and turn them over to the friendly team 90 seconds cooldown.

Unexpected review for an unexpected ship release. Definitely appreciated. Was looking forward for this ship but watching some gameplay i think it goes down on my priority list for RB ships. After watching this review maybe a Druid review is worth considering as it's also a really unique RB ship.

If we look at the current meta and the overwhelming amount of HE spam then this should stand up exceptionally well for a cruiser. The concealment is also nothing to scoff at. A little like Vermont and Incomparable, this thing will be able to go dark between salvos. I agree that as a pushing cruiser it would seriously underperform, but if it can operate in that 12-15km middle ground where it can combine those guns with that concealment then it could be really effective.

Instant purchase? If you already have everything i guess. Seems really meh. Don't know about other servers, but here on EU DDs are extremely popular for some time now. So a ship (especially a cruiser) that doesn't have proper tools to deal with those is definitely not a good choice. Sevastopol lacks the HE alpha strike potential and the DPM to deal with those. Also that minotaur at clip earlier on was painful to watch. This type of lacking consistency on a cruiser that has such low dpm is a deal breaker for me and a 30k salvo on a BB later on is not making up for that. Everyone has their own preferences, but at the current meta with very high DD population, 457+ guns on almost all BBs, CVs in most battles that make the concealment pointless and superships on top i don't think its that great.

If I had RP, I guess I'd get the Vampire II and Ohio before this, but this looks like the one cruiser at T10 that I'd want to try. The Sevastopol actually has some sligthly improved pen-angles. The maximum angle it can manage is 65 degrees, similar to other russian cruisers, instead of 60 on most ships. However, it may still ricochet at 45 degrees like normal ships, while other ships with improved pen angles wont even run a ricochet-test before 55 or 60 degrees. So there is a sligth improvement of pen-angles on the Sevastopol, but it's quite unreliable.😊

Weird you say it doesnt have improved pen angles but in the write up for it released today it says it has improved angles like the alaska and also I thought it said it had the british thunderer style reduced fuse time, so have they got it wrong or have you or has it been changed ?

is the health chart upgraded or stock? with the right built, salem can get upwards of 150k potential HP with all of her heals (making for some absolute meme games)

Dunno if someone already did dig up the data, but what makes the heal so good is not the heal itself, but also her inbuild regen numbers for non-fire/flood damage. Let's pick two other t10 ships for comparison: Yoshino has 100/50/33... you can heal back all fire/flood damage, half of your non-cit damage, and 1/3 of your cit damage..your heal repairs the standard 14% max-hp of a cruiser heal Mino has 100/50/50 and a super heal that can heal up to 40% of your max-hp. Seva not only get a 45% heal, but her regen-pattern is 100/75/50... which means she has the best healing capacity of any T10 supercruiser hands down, she just doesn't have amazing armour being a upgraded Kron-Hull (same issue that Yoshino has, without having a better heal than azuma)

This complicates things. I was planning on using the Puerto Rico token to get the Druid. Would you get Sevastopol over it? (Already have stalin, moska, petro and nevsky)

the early version of this ship was actually quite broken. It had improved AP pen angle. Also, I think running second rudder mod is a good idea since it already has good concealment.

That 25 mm nose is the least of my worries playing this ship.

It´s so amusing and interesting to see the vast differences in views and oppinions on this ship. Maltese basically called it a "why would i get this when i have Siegfried" type of ship while here it is called fun, interesting and strong enough to work. Neat to have so different oppinions based on personal style and likings of this ship.

Because it is a Siefried with worse armor, worse secondaries, worse hydro, worse DCP overall, and no torps. It trades all of this for a heal that is around 25-50% better. And it gets T10 matchmaking and costs 10k more RB points. Complete waste.

@@briannelson1710 To you maybe, i will certainly get her because the mobillity and heal are far better, the MM is a total non issue for me as play mostly T10 anyways and there is no other RB ship interesting atm either.

The one thing I noticed when I came across these things was just how quicly they died regardless of the skill of the player. Any sort of focus fire just melts this thing even though the heal and DCP. and it's weakness to HE spam is a huge downside for me. Its also on the Kronstadt hull which I've never really been a fan of. I cant really see the appeal of getting this ship over something else in the RB when I already have Seigfried, she just doesn't offer enough of a unique playstyle for me to warrant picking her up in relation to her cost.

I had a feeling it was in the research bureau before I opened the video, and I guess I was correct

I loved the video but... I have noticed a shift in PQ's phrases. aa is no longer "everybody knows aa is worthless" to "its a fireworks show"

I have the boat and it is fun, but I wonder why they didn't give it at least a 15 second radar.

Correct me if I'm wrong. So this ship is essentially a battlecruiser cause of its BB guns, with a weaker Armor layout compared to bb's but compensates with a GIGA heal. Am I wrong on anything?

Sevastopol has the same bounce angles as Petro (50-65) and the same fuse timer as Petro and Stalin (0.022s)

Bruh... I just got the Ohio 3 days ago, thinking this Ship won't get released for another year or so. Atleast Ohio is probably the better ship. Or what do you think @Potato Quality? Time to grind again I guess. Edit: Ohio is as OP for a T10 ship as it gets, so I do not regret picking it up first.

Just a small correction, Sevastopol has 'Cruiser' dispersion formula, not 'Battle-Cruiser' formula Siegfried also has 'Cruiser' formula

I noticed you dont run Last Stand on your cruisers. Just a heads up it works better than Prop Mod and combined with prop mod you accelerate even better but only slightly. Just wondering if there is a reason not to use Last Stand

As a RB ship this is "DEAD IN THE WATER" for me. Did the RB grind once for the Ohio and will not do it again. There is nothing in the RB that is worth the grind or expense in resources or time to complete. The RB is nothing more than a way for WG to suck resources from the player base. But, a great video Potato!

"Completely unfair match" - midway player, as they chunk you for 14k damage and a double fire, and swings around for another 9k drop with a fire 20 seconds later.

news article says it has improved ricochet angles and improved fuse timer… I guess the guns become much more magical the second a Russian shell is fired out of it.

Dont really see the huge advantage of Sevastopol (T10) vs Siegfried which after all is T9 and might find itself fighting down to T7. The (slow) super heal is helpful but limited damage con vs normal and then Sieg got torps. Main guns on par as are the pretty useless secondaries. Hydro slightly better on Siegfried and also armor. Both are HUGE ships with Siegfried just slightly bigger. Anyways, thanks for the vid.

Um, the Zao is 12.6K surface detect if hes using Heavy HE/SAP as if youre not using it and running Conealment expert and Concealment in the 5th slot gives you 9.9K surface detection. I would not give up my concealment for Heavy AP/SAP unless im running Venezia or Lighthouse Henry IV/Conde. The concealment is too valuable for the Zao and even without the Heavy HE/SAP, the Zao is a monster of a cruiser in the right hands.

11:27 you just aimed too low, that wasn't falling short bug. I've been in those exact situations where a ship is turning out in front of me, aimed slightly higher than you did there, and hit.

Fun fact: Sevastopol was a real life battleship of the Gangut class built by the Russian Empire.

This version is, I believe, supposed to represent a Kronshtadt-class BC with the intended 15 inch german guns.

If WeeGee put as much effort into their game as you did this review, shells might not fall short.

Would be great if they added more effects, like ships splitting into 2 and sinking separately, a very common way ships actually sunk. But it would probably break the game engine.

PQ I am pretty sure they have Stalingrad improved pen angles. Some miss information right there.
