    you need to rewire your xlr to TRS jack to unbalance the signal going into the headphone input or you get left in phase and right out of phase. look up how balanced outputs and headphone inputs work.

    my x air 18 doesn't mount it's a desktop mixer and the aux sends are not xlr, they are 1/4 " so what kind of cable do i use. I have tried mono on each end and stereo on each end but only gets one ear. if we pull the jack out a little we get stereo. So do i need stereo on one end and mono on the other ?

  • @66fitton

    @66fitton

    2 жыл бұрын

    What you're doing is the actual cheapest fix. The aux sends are mono but you need two signals for headphones. Tip-sleeve 1/4 inch out of aux send and Tip-ring-sleeve into headphone amp is the other way to get it working. You have to use the proper cable. Regular patch cables for guitars are 2 core. You need 3 core. Basically a mic cable. If you have an old one cut the ends off and make your own tip-sleeve to tip-ring-sleeve and your good. Plenty of youtube vids on how to wire them up.

    I don't understand the need of the HA8000. I'm sorry. For my podcast I set up 4 microphones one for each participant and I set up 3 AUX to connect the headsets plus the phones output for me. At the AUX I plug a XLR female to 1/4" female conversor and... that's it. Every podcaster plug their headphone to those conversors and all works. So the function of the HA8000 is not clear to me. I would really appreciate you or someone comments on thus. Thank you very much.

    @@tejedor1967 Yes for a podcast. The idea behind the HA8000 is to boost the levels coming out the headphones. You wouldn't hear a thing if you had a drummer playing 10 feet behind you with just the out from the aux sends. Good point you made for podcasters. This is extra money spent for no good reason.

    Hello I hope your well, sorry if my question is a little bit (or a lot) dumb, but am new at this. Your tutorial is very helpful but I am a little confused ont eh HA8000 part. So the XR18 of course allows individual mixes for each aux out. i.e. Aux one can had different levels of all the inpust , drums bas etc, so each aux hears the whol band albeit in their own prefernece of levels, now when connected to the ha8000 in the individual direct ins at the back, I thought these inputs can be heard by all headphones? is that right or is it only the mains in that can be heard by all.
