Settle to Carlisle review ~ Train Simulator
Ойындар
Taking a trip down Memory Lane (as it were) to review Dovetail's old Settle to Carlisle route in Train Simulator. It's significant to me as the second add-on I ever bought for this game, although I have realised that it has a few problems (such as its dated/basic scenery and linear nature, not to mention the old/poor-quality rolling stock that's included).
The S&C is a famous route running over hilly terrain between North Yorkshire and Cumbria, up in the north-west of England. It was built by the Midland Railway and opened in 1876, with famous landmarks along the line including Ribblehead Viaduct, Blea Moor Tunnel and Ais Gill Summit. There are long 1 in 100 inclines up to the summit at both ends, which is how the route came to be known as 'The Long Drag'.

That GP30 is just a menace. He diesel-napped a teddy bear, got arrested and the either jailed or deported back to the US or something (I loved that whole plot line ngl)

The GP30 thing was something I randomly came up with as I went along.
I always wished this route had extended to Leeds, as the local / express trains that ply their trade on this route, all operate from Carlisle to Leeds. No trains terminate or commence from Settle. I think that visually, whilst it is dated, it's still looks pretty nice, with AP weather in place.
Great review, mate.
this line is literally like, half an hour away from me, love to see it Also showing your TTTE Storytelling skills with that bit near the end. You should do that more often
You really should get AP track, Signals and weather. You’ll notice a massive difference

Those packs are far too expensive for my liking.
Armathwaite signal box has always been yellow since it was built
I think the prototype deltic was a "what if" if did happen
I remember when i used to fool around in SnC in Trainz
I do have this route on TS Classic, only a handful of ones I do, as this is sorta local to me. If this was to come to TSW IMO, it would have to start from Skipton (the station is not far from my house actually!) where you can drive Morcambe services as far as Long Preston as well as the full Skipton to Carlisle services, but that means the Electric Airedale services won't be represented. It is one I'd love to see, but I hope this doesn't end up like an Antelope Valley like situation

The S&C in TSW would be very interesting, but I wouldn't be surprised if DTG cut the route coverage at Settle instead of Skipton. Time period wise, I think it would have to be set some time after 1986, when all those other stations reopened.

@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga With the Class 156, as Skyhook have the 158

To be honest, I've been hoping for the Airedale and Wharfedale electric lines to come to TSW since the game came out (since I'm from Ilkley, although lived in Skipton). So these two routes would go together brilliantly, with 158 layers between Leeds and Skipton and 333/331 layers in Skipton on the S&C route. I think the Skipton - Leeds - Bradford - Ilkley route would make for a super diverse route with some cool motive power, without it being too long and unrealistic for DTG to include, plus DTG already have the Northern licensing after glossop.

@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga It was reportedly a breakdown in communications - RSC intended the route to start from Skipton.
21:24 If you change the number of 4979 to a4936 you get kinlet hall
Parts of me think of Flying Scotsman (A1 condition) would be ideal for Settle to Carlisle TS Classic route
