monetj40 most commonly in optometry we work from right to left always. one reason being that it brings less confusion ... and doing the same routine always addressing the right eye first for everything from patient to patient leaves less room for errors, confusion, and miscommunication from my experience as the doctors scribe, and also less room for error on the doctors part. it’s even more so important when they are examining the inside of your eyes and notating important things they see and want to make note of. the last thing they would want to have happen is incorrect information being put into your medical chart because of miscommunication or error because of confusion of which eye is which.
