Setting Up the AFRICAN CICHLID TANK for REAL!
าฎะน ะถะฐะฝัะฐัะปะฐัั ะผะตะฝ ะฐาฃะดะฐั
Finally, the African cichlid tank gets set up for real! This is one of the builds that I am most excited for in the fish room since it's been my dream to set up an african cichlid (mbuna) tank.

I've always loved large groups of Saulosi. Then you have both the yellows and blues without worrying about hybridization. Looks great!
Love how the Cichlid tank turned out, the color tone of those rocks goes perfectly with the sand and the black background really makes it all pop. I think some blue Mbuna Cichlids would go really great with the yellow ones you are going to put in. The fish room is looking great!
You should push the hoses further in the filter side and place the hose holders down, you've got the hose holders on the wrong side they should be in the end of the hoses, not there, hope I explain it well enough
Your fish room is becoming so amazing each day! I canโt wait to see the cichlids get added to the 4 ft tank ๐
those angel babies are so cute at 19:28, if and thats a big IF I ever do keep fish again angels are top of the list them and discus. keep up the good work young man.

Angelfish are the best :)
Yesss rio weโve been waiting for this!!!!
Hey, really would like to see an updated fish room tour!
The tank looks beautiful! I love your hardscape ๐
Can't wait to see your contest tank Ryo!
The Cichlid tank looks great Ryo! I canโt wait to see the fish in there. I love the yellow lab cichlid. I also love the blue ones. They are like a cobalt blue color or they call them neon blue or something like that. They yellow labs and the blue cichlids would contrast each other well too.๐๐ผ
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Yeah!! I want some demasoni cichlids. They may be more aggressive but they stay slightly smaller :)
Wow it's so beautiful
nice to see u set up your each tank ๐๐
Always enjoy the videos!
Looks great. Stay well
Amazing content and project.
I love those guppies though๐ง
I love the Iwagumi style set up you choose for the cichlid tank. I also can't wait to see the fish swim through it. ๐
@RyoWatanabee

Thank you! I love this style too and really felt that this type of tank was a must for the gallery :)

@@RyoWatanabee I totally agree. Stay awesome Ryo. ๐
Tank looks sooo awesome !

Thanks!!
I think rusty cichlids are a really cool fish that may work well with the yellow labs, but I am not too familiar with the african cichlids. I love the hardscape and the sand looks very natural. Looking forward to the updates. Take care.
You should consider a wave maker for the other side of the aquarium to move the build up that may be in between the rocks
Demasoni and yellow labs combo spices tank. I have done it and they are an awesome combo.
That looks great, Ryo. The water really brought beautiful colors out in those rocks.

ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
And to be honest, I don't know a thing about cichlids! lol. But some striped ones would look beautiful. ๐๐๐คช

Yes! Thank you. I want some demasoniโs. They are blue with black stripes

@@RyoWatanabee they would look amazing. I like the cichlids cute big eyes. Kind of like puppy eyes. lol

I am slowly gathering what I need for my angelfish tank. No mbuna cichlids for me....yet.
young man you inspire me to do more for my fish friends. and all my other animal friends.
yellow fish is great Ryo
Ice Blue Cichlids Sir Ryo ๐โฅ๏ธ
Hi Ryo! I had a similar setup for my Pseudomugil Luminatus, but I only had one male and two females. The tank was also a bit smaller and I basically covered the top with spawning mops. They were quiteโฆ prolific. ;)
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Thatโs awesome to hear!! Maybe I need to add more spawning mops :)
I had some Rotala floating in a quarantine tank with a trio of Pseudomugil gertrudae. I never saw the eggs, but a week after I moved them out of quarantine, I started seeing fry. Now Iโve got easily 50 fry! Maybe try floating plants?
Hello ryo I got Into keeping rice fish after viewing your videos man keeping rice fish so cool. Also I'm have mbuna cichlids in my 85 gallon tank the cichlids in this I have pseudotrophus perspicix orange cap metriaclim zebra chilumba and chindongo demasoni check these mbuna cichlids my personal favorites.
Looks good
I love this tank ! I dunno what do you put under your rocks!? I love this look feel minimalist
What kind of rocks are you using? Looks cool
Where do you get those map things in your tank that holds the eggs? I love watching your videos
Amazing set up although look simple but still wow
Hey ryo are you using a gshock? what's your watch?
I think the tank did actually look a little clearer. It could have been lighting etc etc but regardless, it looks fantastic
๐ tank๐๐คฉ๐ค๐พ
Love your content. What is the material you have it under the rocks to protect them from scratching it?
@RyoWatanabee
5 ะฐะน ะฑาฑััะฝ
Itโs a hard blue styrofoam . Used for housing insulation
putting the input and out put of the filter on opposite sides of the the tank is always a good idea.
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Sometimes, not always :)
@bigbird4950
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
@@RyoWatanabee how could that not be the case?
Pick up a 300micron 12" reinforced sieve made for Aggregate Quality Control and use that to pour your sand through to get the finer particles out.
Very good video! Can you keep yellow labs with other mbunas than are not very aggressive?
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Yup, yellow labs are very peaceful mbuna and will do well with most others
For the tanks that are too close together for individual lids why not make one of your usual hinged poly carbonate lids long enough to cover them all end to end (it would be supported by clips on the outside edges of the two end tanks and supported in the middle by the edges that are close together) โฆ them simply cut the poly sheet, between the tanks, from front to back as far as the hinge so each tank has a hinged lid that can be opened up individually (behind the hinges, I.e. from the back of the tanks to the front of the hinges the sheet will remain in one continuous sheet for stability). Seems much easier than fitting ugly braces to them all.
Great vid! Where are you going to put your contest tank if you move your crypt jungle into that space?
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Iโll move it to the right once I free up that area.
When you eventually do a tour can you please say all the tank sizes in the fishroom during the tour?
Their are aquatic plants in the environment where cichlid live
Ryo, have you considered the rocks should be placed in such a way as to block the vision of the fish to reduce aggression when they chase each other?
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Yup, I think thereโs enough visual barriers for now. If not, Iโll change things up later on :)
There's not much point fussing about rock hard scapes for African Cichlids because they will dig around and move the rocks. Also, you'll want to shift the rocks when you clean so the fish have some variety to their habitat. This will keep them amused and active and avoid them becoming too territorial.
What about making a salt water tank, ryo?
๐๐๐
Might be worth siliconing the big rock on its end to the rocks it is resting on? If that slips sideways, it could break the glass....
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
Good idea, I may do that in the future when I move this tank. For the time being, I think itโs stable enough :)
Lol
The cichlid tank scape looks great. I really like all the crevices and space around the base of the rocks. Can't wait to see fish in there. What are your plans for the contest tank once the crypt garden moves over where it is now?
@RyoWatanabee
ะัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
I will move the contest tank further right, to an empty wall. Right now I canโt move that tank yet since that area is not free yet. It might happen sometime in the next year or two :)
