Jennifer, don't get discouraged with the comments. First of all, I will stick by my opening comment that I think this is a well made and needed video. But that said, I agree 100% with all the comments about the dummied down version of control you have given us in XP11. Why not give us the best of both worlds. Consider keeping an overview dummy version for those who want it, but bring back the detailed version for what I would assume would be most XP users. This should be one of the highest priority improvements that could be done to XP11. Without this capability, consider that you WILL lose some past users who will migrate to one of other upcoming 64-bit systems.

I must agree with some of the other comments, please bring back the "detailed" graphics settings options. At 4K resolution with no shadows and moderate to low AA, FPS is well below 30 (19 FPS in DD's New York) even on a high end CPU/GPU (5960X @ 4.6Ghz and Titan X pascal). Other simulator platforms are able to produce considerably higher FPS with better visual quality and equal or even higher levels of detail. Even in this 1080p video, you can clearly see the lack of AA being used and FPS is still not that great. I love what LR have done with Xplane 11, but I hope LR can find away to improve performance, it seems VERY CPU bound.

one other thing to add...it is blurry altogether! I am on VR CV1 and performance and looks are not great even though I am on 7700 and 1080Ti

thanks for sharing, now we know where to setup the acurate rendering to get the real world aircraft speeds.

FPS is good in XP11 I found myself hardly needing to tweak much with the simpler menu... as suggested do put the advanced mode back for people who want it - I would like to think the developers of the product would be better to do so vs using yet another mod... Personally I like the simpler interface and the performance improvement for me going XP 10 to 11 was very noticeable Good Work!

Just put reflection detail to minimal, it makes hardly any noticeable difference to the sim but most people (including myself) tend to get up to a 15 fps increase.

I have X-Plane 11, installed it in July of 2019 on my i7 2600, with 32 GB of DDR3 Ram, a WD 500 GB SSD, and a Gigabyte GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card that's over-clocked about 25-30% and I wasn't impressed with the performance even with most of the sliders at medium or low so I ended up having to do a major hardware upgrade on the computer, with a new motherboard, processor and RAM. I got the ASUS ROG motherboard, liquid-cooled i9 9900K 3.6 GHZ, over-clocked at 5 GHZ, and Corsair 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, I kept my GTX 1060 with the same settings. I am able to get between 30 and 60 FPS, it'll dip to 27 in very dense areas, with the Texture Quality, Antialiasing, and Number of World Objects set at Maximum, Visual Effect and Reflection Detail are set at Medium. XP 11 is very demanding and it leaves a lot to be desired, no seasonal textures like high peaks with snow. It's strange to fly over Alaska in December and not seeing any snow on the ground. There are lot of other issues with XP 11 but I won't mention them to keep this comment short. Overall, I'm not very impressed with the product Laminar Research has.

Couldn't we have had both this and the V10 page for those who could use it? Less can be more and keeping thing simple is invariably a good idea but I am not convinced that this is actually better. The control we had over objects, roads, vehicles, refections, shadows, etc etc was impressive and the result extended to more than just frame rates. I bought 11 because Austin deserves the money, but am still using 10.

Great job with your video, however there is way to much haze in the simulator compared to XP10. The latest update to XP11 increased the amount of haze. I like more control over my graphics settings in XP10.

Hi! I have flown about 10 flights in vatsim, with vpilot but now i have a small problem... Yesterday I was preparing my flight in Gatwick, and suddenty i couldnt hear anyone on Gatwick ground frequency. I tried to restart vpilot and it didnt work. I heard people on other frequencies though. Now i cant get my flightplan filed, because i get "syntax error". What the hell I got to do? xD My vatsim experience has been great so far, but now i dont have any idea how can i fly again..

What are the specs of the computer used for the video?

try updating your graphics card

Btw , i would advice to always keep ' Reflection Detail ' at LOW , it is an FPS eater and not really worth it , unless you have an GTX1080ti , but even then , i would maybe set it to MEDIUM . I myself have an GTX1070ti , and i keep it at low . I find ' Texture Quality ' and ' Visual Effects ' the MOST important ones , that is why i have those at MAX . I also don't care much for ' Antialiasing ' i keep that one on 2xSSAA+FXAA . ' Number of world objects ' at HIGH , ' Draw parked aircraft ' at OFF ( because i have X-Life Pro ) and ' Draw shadows on scenery ' also OFF . This way i have my goal of 40+ fps . There is ( in my mind ) no reason to have/want more then 40 fps . My GPU is AMD Ryzen R5-2600X on a X370 board with 32GB 3200Mhz ram . My next goal is to buy an Oculus Rift , but i will do that the moment the new GPU's comes out ( AMD or Nvidia , i don't care . But i'm hoping that AMD will come up with a killer GPU on their 7Nm process , which will probably come to consumers around Q2 2019 .

You can reduce the number of cars by moving the number of world objects to the left. However, this affects number of roads, buildings, and trees as well.

Depends how you turned them off but anyway you should go to the toolbar and just click “set engines to running”

I can only achieve 6.9 fps with the instructions you gave and my computer is a gaming laptop from 2013 , but I can only achieve 6.9, I must be doing something wrong.I did get the computer for only $20 tho.

watch the video, try different settings like she does in the video. How else did you think you'd get your target fps in whatever aircraft you're wanting?

Yes, obviously the higher the fps, the smoother it will be, as that's what fps is all about.

x plane can fix the bug where you go over 10,000 ft and then suddenly the cockpit blacks out because its really annoying and i have to stay under 10,000 ft to fly

Hi! I've looked in the manual, but I can't find a page or video that explains each of the sliders in the SOUND tab. Would you please point me to the place or video that explains those please? Thanks in advance.

My only limit is still low amount of RAM I have only 16 GB 1600 megahertz the game is using only 3 GB that looks like Strength memory error stil my video memory is 6 gigabyte should be plenty

XP defaults to water outside of a limited area when in demo mode. If you've purchased the game, be sure to unlock with the code you received.

Also, be sure to have the region you're flying on installed.

I got 3 FPS increase and some lovely blurry airport scenery... I was prepared for this, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I'll have to go back to all my performance lua tweaks again... This was meant for the new 11.50 Vulkan update. Apologies.

There are a few lua scripts to mess with the graphics and help. I had gone from 45fps to 100ish.

Have you considered that beginners may not know how to flip between the flying and settings screens? Perhaps explain how you are getting there?

I'm guessing her PC was nothing special. Surely 30fps while on the ramp is no good? That's hardly demanding. As soon as you're up in the air looking at a few sky scrapers, the fps is going to plummet? It doesn't bother be too much as I am happy just to be alive.

What is it with everyone here complaining about performance while they are using a 4-core CPU? You should be running at least a 6. This isn't a game, it's a simulator. I mean, you waste $300-$400 extra for a 1080Ti, but don't spend $100 extra for 50% more cores? For shame...

This is ridiculous. The dumbing down should be for games, not for simulators. A little more detailed settings would have been good, especially regarding shadows. It's a must but a killer as it is. I have a 6700k running at 4.8Ghz, 16 GB ram and an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 with 4k monitor... so I have a good rig but find Xplane an absurdity without traffic, and X plane traffic really sucks... So I have to use third party traffic. But then combined with shadows since it draws shadows for ai (3rd party ai) kills my fps in busy places to right around 28 FPS. Some people are okay with 25 but when you have a high end computer 25 for any software is not acceptable. Plus I find it very shameful that a sim could be released and the recommendation is to remove all ai traffic. How is that a sim? If there were no 3rd party ai I would have dumped XPLANE already as that is a joke. Either fly all alone with no traffic or fly with an atc online subscription where there are just a handful of poorly rendered other flyers in the whole world? People who need dumbed down settings don't get sims they get games anyway...

It's because she has it set pretty low. I can't live with jagged edges, and thankfully setting it to max doesn't kill my fps.

What a shame... getting 24 fps in oculus rift with settings on mid-high on a RTX 3080 just because my CPU is I7-4770k and the game don't support multi threading... waste of money and effort :( SHAME!

Laminar Research, I have a problem. I recently bought xplane11 from STEAM and due to my slow net it took continuously 32 hours of download. When I open xplane11, it is VERY LAGGY , LIKE 7 FPS with everything set at minimum (except resolution) I have a GPU of Nvidia MX230, Windows 10 i5 with 8GB RAM. Please update and fix this issue.

Gonna be honest... The graphics in this sim is pathetic... It looks like Microsoft flight sim from 2002... Especially in this video... Only reason i havent gotten this sim is cause of all the negative feedback from the graphics. 100% holding off for Microsoft flight sim 2020.
