Everyone should have a Pete in their life that merrily shouts “GOOD EFFORT”. It increases serotonin
I absolutely LOVE when you post setting videos. They're always a perfect balance of fun and informative. Please keep them coming!
The rule could be that if someone falls/loses a life THEN they are allowed to place an intermediate as their next piece. They would have to spend their turn during that or risk falling on the same move again; so it kinda balances out that way.

@@TonyFisherPuzzles XD I didn't mean risk of injury. I mean strategic risk of failing the same move twice. If a 'player' fails to do a move and loses a 'life' they can use their next turn to place an intermediate hold; the downside to that is that they're sacrificing placing the next hold in the series.

I adore the chemistry between Pete and Magnus
I love the videos with Pete! They are so informative and fun. I like seeing you try to "cheat" each other's strategies to play to your own stengths. It makes it easier to believe I can one day achieve more even though I may not be as tall or as strong as someone else. Keep up the amazing work!
Challenge idea: blindfolded and guided. Put a blindfold on, and get one of your climbing buddies to guide you up, telling you where your next hold is. Would probably have to do something normally less challenging to be safe, but it could be a fun game of who can guide who up a route quickest.
This is a really fun concept!! Definitely wanna see you complete this problem in the next video too. Also maybe try this rule: If someone sets a hold and the other person can climb to the highest hold without using it then they can remove it. Gets rid of too many intermediate holds. Nice one Magnus and Pete!
you could add a rule so that each person only gets a certain number of intermediate moves (like 1 or 2), that way you don't just completely ignore what each other sets and just set intermediate moves to by-pass hard parts.
Definitely love that idea! A few suggestions Magnus: 1) Rule 1) You are only allowed to put a hold higher than the last one that was set 2) Maybe a double ticket, meaning that you can set up two boulders once per session 3) Trying this on a climbing wall that you have much more way to go 4) All holds have to be used while climbing 5) The setter sets also the move Just some ideas to spice that up

Pete failing sooner than magnus after that speech about his endurance talent is the exact feeling I get when I tell my climbing buddy "yea this route is my style its gonna go" and then I pump out miserably at the halfway point.
I just imagine the climbers going into the gym the next day and looking at what they set and think wtf is this
Magnus couldn't crack on with Pete's section but then Pete was floored by Magnus's.
this was very interesting. i would love to see more videos like this with some other people you've climbed with in the past, watching your process has been really fascinating
I love this new game idea, it opens up so many interesting route setting possibilities. I think the game rules should be: each time you climb the wall you must use every hold but not in any specific order.

I love when Magnus does collabs with Pete. Magnus is such a dominant climber, but when Pete comes in, Magnus just desperately looks for how to survive.
Really appreciating the more instrumental-focused as opposed to the vocal-heavy music, keeps the focus on the climbing much better! :)
You could also have a target hold at the top to get too and whoever gets to that hold first wins. Would be fun trying to balance holds for you to get up but not allowing the other reach there before you
You should set a problem that forces the climber to do 50 pull-ups in a row

Even the music is really good in your videos Magnus, thanks for sharing all that, real pleasure to watch !
"Good effort" definitely belongs on a t-shirt.
Years ago we played something similar on the spray wall. We called it 2+2 an you were allowed to define the next two holds, BUT there was the extra rule, that you had to be able to hold on to the second hold you define for like two or three seconds without touching any other hold (like a top). (The rules for the foothold varied.) If you are playing it the way I described it, you are forced to set moves, that you are really able to do, but since you are allowed to define the next TWO holds, you can still set really difficult stuff or dynamic stuff or so on.
I like all of your videos, but that one was especially fun to watch. Thanks for the great content.
