    Thank you so much for your videos! They are getting me up to speed quickly on my FT3DR. Something that WAS eluding me is how to register a saved memory channel to a specific bank. I'd follow the procedure on page 17 of the Advanced manual, but I always get hung up on Step 4 which says "Rotate the DIAL to select the memory bank (BANK1 to BANK24) to register the memory channel." All I ever saw was memory channels, but never BANK names. Until - I turned the dial COUNTER clockwise, then all the bank names appeared. Voila! Again - keep up the great work. I'm new to this hobby and guys like you make it enjoyable. KFØAWD Bill.

    Thanks! Just subscribed. Only Video I found that shows how to select a bank for scanning. Let me ask a question if I may. I selected a band, then I scan the band. I continually get a loud squelch as it goes from one channel in the band to another. This doesn't happen with all the channels, just some.

  • @KB9VBRAntennas

    @KB9VBRAntennas

    I've had the same thing happen while scanning. A birdie, spur, or other stray RF signal opens up the receive while on scan. There are so many RF generators in our homes that it is quite common. You might need to set the squelch setting a bit higher or use receive CTCSS on your channels.

    Thanks for the bank information. I have some anomalies I'd like to ask you about. The first is that when I display bank 1 on the radio it shows up as a lowercase 'b' 1, all other banks show up as uppercase 'B' 2...etc. It probably means nothing but it is strange. My second anomaly is around one of my banks. I have bank, 1, 2, 3, 4, and bank 13. One, two, three, and four all shows as I rotate the knob, but 13 despite having about 21 split frequency channels in it does not. In fact I can't find anyway to get to bank 13 except in the program (rtSystems). Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    Sad, the bank names do not showup on the main screen just the bank number, and there is no audio announcment of the channel frequency or channel name. Lets make the radio a little larger so everything can be displayed.

    Question, I am about to purchase this radio, I was wondering since you've had this radio for about a year now what mods / accessories you'd recommend for this radio?

  • @KB9VBRAntennas

    @KB9VBRAntennas

    4 жыл бұрын

    Number one accessory is the drop in charger. The radio charges a lot faster with it. You can use the power transformer that comes with the radio on the drop in charger so you don't need to buy another. Next would be a spare battery and third item the speaker mic. I use the standard speaker mic‚ not the one with the built in camera. An aftermarket antenna is a nice add-on. There are so many choices I don't have a particular recommendation. I am playing with one of those ABREE folding antennas and will have a video on it in the next week or so.

    I've have to compare the audio between the two units. Audio loudness seems to be a relative issue as what's loud enough for one person may not be the same for the other. If I'm in a situation where it's hard to hear the radioI'll usually use the speaker-mic or an earpiece to get the audio closer to my ear.

    @@KB9VBRAntennas Thanks for replying. Finding it lacking compared to the Anytone AT-D878UV Plus and my Ailunce HD1. I hated to bring up the Ailunce because they are crap compared to the FT2DR but the sound is much louder and it is unfair to compare the FT2DR to the Anytone AT-D878UV Plus because it is a DMR radio. But I am just comparing sound levels. I just think Yaesu could have boosted the sound a tad bit. I have to have it cranked to 80 percent volume level to equal what the other two are turned to the lowest volume setting. Oh Well I will have to find someone who has the FT3DR to compare. I like the radio...volume is my only beef...

    You should be able to. The FT3DR is a little picky about the type and size of the micro SD card‚ but if it works in the FTM-400 it should work in the FT3DR.

    I can't believe Yaesu didn't put banks in the ftm-400. $550 radio, 1000 memory slots, and no memory banks. Yet they put them in $90 radio's like the Ft-4x etc. A non-bank mobile radio is pretty worthless when traveling around the country. I have 148 repeaters programed in from Omaha to Phoenix, and have to scan them ALL instead of being able to store then in banks of 250 mile sections.
