    Ok Scott, started ordering to build a electric Eliminator. I've watched the build series videos and will again I'm sure. By the time I get everything ordered it will be winter and time to start building, I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions, so I apologize in advance. Thanks for the awesome videos. Almost forgot, I'm using you Amazon links so you will be a Gagillionaire by the time I'm done. 😊😂 Thanks Mike

    I use a ball link with the spring on it that forces the sleeve to stay tight capturing the ball like Sullivan makes for the throttle.. You still have the threads for adjustment from the insert that screws into the ball/capture link. Easy to disconnect when needed. Also for throttle, I use a fairly small diameter piano wire taken from a three foot section from K&S. I purposely put a couple loops in the piano wire to let the wire take up most of the vibration from the engine. Check your end points now and then. But, I don't recall ever having to do an adjustment from first set up. The one foot pieces K&S sells are much more stiff and brittle. Prone to breaking if and when you try to do a 90 degree bend.

    Thanks k.f.w. , I love the double loops idea! I might have to try that on the next go 'round

    The hull looks awesome. Nice work! Hard mounting the servo will kill it in two ways. Vibration will beat up the gears and the electronics. The soft mounted engine moving against the hard mounted servo will beat up the gears as well.

    Thanks, but I don't think so. There is no pressure on the servo at all so long as the endpoints are set correctly. One of my boats is on year four with this same arrangement.

    Im surprised you didn't use like 1/8" or 3/16" ply for ears to screw into. Looks good

    I Scott That's an awesome Torch I have been looking for a nice small one for taking out lock tighted parts like prop colors in front of the props the little grub screws. I am looking to a torch kit also soldering . Is there a kit that has the gas and solder and the past nice torch that I can adjust. Ty Scott for the great video.

    I haven't used this particular one but it's supposed to be pretty good. Just don't buy one that's described as a "kitchen torch", as they're just for meat searing. Check out this one amzn.to/3r6lp0F

    Scott, what torque rating is required for an 1/8 hydro rudder servo? Assume a standard servo would work for throttle if going nitro. THX

  • @M5PerfHydros

    @M5PerfHydros

    6 ай бұрын

    Less than you might expect. The boat wants to turn, so the rudder can be moved very easily. The servos I use now have about 200 oz in of torque, but I used to use a 160 oz in servo (discontinued) that worked just as well

    Hi Scott, I’ve recently started following your channel, I’ve always loved the Unlimited Hydroplanes. I would love to build an electric 1/8 scale Atlas but we don’t have a local race series for them in the UK. Can I ask why do the models run clockwise and the full size boats run a counter clockwise course? Thanks again for your excellent content. Lee from over the pond 😊

    Sorry for my slow reply. KZread hasn't been notifying me when I get messages lately. The turning direction has to do with motor rotation and the effects of prop thrust. Full size boats have engines that rotate clockwise, but ours rotate counterclockwise

    @M5PerfHydros Hi Scott, thank you for the reply. I didn't consider the shaft rotation, makes sense now 😆 You've definitely spurred me on to build my own, currently building an F1 tunnel hull to get some experience. Hopefully I'll have a hydro soon. Thanks again, Lee
