Biggest issue is more people tossing it towards them self OR even hitting it while it's still on it's way UP. So they don't let the ball "fall"

I thought the ball had to be thrown straight up. Can you also throw backwards like you did?

The rules state it must be thrown up almost vertically. This is a grey area. If you watch table tennis you'll see the umpires often give a lot of leeway in this area.

Does the serve have to go from one corner to the other? Or can it be straight on?

In singles it doesn't matter, but in doubles you have to serve diagonally

Can the ball bounce more than once on the opponents side (in both doubles and singles) or does it have to bounce exactly once?

The servce can bounce twice and if it does then the server wins the point.

nice vid - can you clarify something else tho please - is it correct that the ball should be tossed at least 16cm up, and from an open palm?.. thanks!

yes, those are well-known rules with little dispute so they didn't mention them in this video.

That is correct, you need to toss the ball up at least 15.25cm (6 inches) from an open palm.

@@sakuragi_hanamichi3263 The server is considered to have a big advantage so I guess these are to try and get more rallies in the game by making it easier for the receiver to retun serves. I do think the service rules are too complicated myself.

What happens if i hit with the grip of the racket on the table in the game?

That is play on. You aren't allowed to touch the table with your non-playing hand but anything else is OK (as long as you don't move the table!)

A question related to the service, as there doesn't seem to be clarity. The question is, WHO is allowed to call a let serve a let serve. I was told only an umpire is allowed to call the serve a let, not the player, but I still can't believe that to be true. Also, nowhere in TT rules is there a mention of the who, that can call a let serve and stop the game. Can someone answer this?

I've seen players in official matches admit to let serves even when the umpire doesn't see it. I'm guessing the players are allowed to pass on information, but the final call is left up to the umpire, whether or not it really was a let serve.

@@luminescentowl exactly... at the end of the day that's what it means to be umpire: being the impartial person running the match... technically, they're the ones deciding on everything, not just let serves... you can always ask, but you yourself aren't the one calling it... in lower leagues, where umpires are usually just other players waiting for their own matches, umpires might miss a let serve and just not be paying attention (bad umpire!!), in which case the player will ask for it, and if the opponent doesn't contest it (think sportsmanship and all) then the umpire will just give it... also there are often loose balls or other players coming into your court, I find that everyone tries to avoid the let and just keep the match going... sure if you ask for the let, you'd be given it, but if nobody's bothered enough then umpires will just allow the match to continue (umpires who are also usually just other players waiting for their own matches) so I think this is where it might look like the players are calling the let... but technically, it's the umpire
