I think he’s trying to get her to build her serve foundation, because all elite servers are going to put the ball over the left shoulder to help generate the kick. Sampras and Federer both maximize(d) the kick by putting the ball over their left shoulder.

As a coach I would recommend the following: 1: get into the serve position. 2: toss the ball up and catch the ball without moving your body/arm. If you are able do this, it shows that you have a very straight toss. Ps: One tip is to keep the arm straight from start to finish and yes this includes not bending the wrist towards yourself during the toss. Hope that helps a lil🙏🏽

Don’t worry about the toss. Make sure your body is calm and silent throughout the entire serve. This will naturally cause your serve toss to be more accurate while also giving you more leeway if the serve goes more haywire. Serve toss is overrated by coaches, not as important as players and coaches think. Source: my coach is a master usta professional among other titles and has worked with top 10 players.

There are few different techniques which begins at the grip change, for example Rafa/Novak are closing their racquet heads, where Kyrgios/Hubi are doing takebacks with racquet heads parallel to the net. I was just interested what Patrick can prepare for this one. Answer like 'flip the racquet' is rly funny though xd You are obviously putting other people in your shoes 😂

If you put it this way, you can also state something like 'It is obvious that you have to toss the ball in front of you. You won't see it behind your back lol'. But i don't think we are here for that kind of analizes.

There’s nothing to gain from this. It’s entirely dependent on what kind of serve YOU have or are going for. Federer famously tosses in an arc and he and Sampras both put the ball further behind, forcing more of a kick, even on their first.

I don’t know I feel like he’s missing something with her serve. Sure theoretically she’s correct but it looks like she’s only got the surface level technique. Because of that and the fact Patrick keeps telling her to accelerate, and she’s doing it at full speed it looks like she either continues acceleration after contact or is over-pronating or causing hyper-flexion in her wrist. Of course a part of that is her stiff, heavy racket frame. However I do think those technical flaws are causing her pain which is why she shakes her wrist after the serve. Best course of action is to have her find out how to lay the wrist back in an extended position comfortably, and execute the serve slower so that she can protect from injury. Just my two-cents but what do I know? 🤷‍♂️

J Toss is the greatest thing one can do for the serve. The shoulder coil it allows makes it feel as natural as you always wished it would. This ”coach” doesn’t know crap about coaching. Produced by millionaire parents he can go around acting like one. Braden would run circles around this guy.

How to place feet and slign shoulders for serve setup ? How far feet closed. Compare McEnroe, who seemed not even looking in the court, during load/winding up How does one need to adjust toss (more in front or with head wind, less in front) with strong wind, and adjust feet stance Your best videos are those showing improvents, during session with student. Maybe in a corner of the screen you can add a zoom, blow up of the ball trajectory, with an extra additional cam angle

Beautiful smile on that girl…. Instead of asking if “You strong or not?” Patrick should Just explain to the impressionable young lady that STRENGTH is a part of the game.. Also tossing is always to the right and in front of the left foot. You should NEVER toss straight out in front because there is no coil and turning gets the clearance over the net. Patrick should also be aware that Her serving stance is also way too open…
