Serve and Return Placement TIPS

Today we will focus on the serve and the return. This is the most important training topic for me and my partner at the moment. I feel like it is the difference between being under pressure or building up the point and winning/holding the net position.

Happy Birthday Sven! Good content. More match analysis please 🙂
Greatly appreciated kind of content Sven! May not get the appreciation it deserves vs. a "superduper easy way to por tres"-kind of video would, but we really need this kind of content!

Feliz Cumpleaños. I'm lucky because I have a very good service in padel. Some years ago with friends talked about the importance of a very good service. Firts and second. I was a Quijote insisting about it was very important. At that time even pros think that it wasn't. I've got stranger opinions. For me the second is quite a first. In risk, intention. In amateur padel, everybody have played versus players that have a second mild service. Un regalo para el que resta. I prefer decide if a lost the point with my service in a double fault rather that received a winner resto. Pj

Gracias! And good explanation, I agree! The second serve is also very important and has to be deep in the court as well.
Fantastic content as always but I would recommend that you focus on showing us more of the match and just do as commentator so we can see more plays. Happy Bday!

Happy birthday and great video! More video like this and maybe also serve video because that is an underrated topic and rarely instructed. I have been thinking about this for a while and I have only returned to the server since he is in motion and that made most sense. But I have used hard return on the player at the net on some occasion and often times it works in that he only manages to block the ball which gives an easy ball and an opportunity to lob well. For some reason I have had a hard time with deep serves but haven't realized to do them myself. So as far as deep serve what speed is best to use?

Returning hard to the player at the net really bites you in the ass once you start to go up in level. It works occasionally but if that player is a good volleyer they will step in and redirect your shot to the fences and usually get an easy and low-risk point. Or just block it back to your feet and you'll be scrambling to do a half-volley lob which usually ends in a big smash/chancletazo for them. Still, it's fun to experiment! Personally I really mix up my serve speeds and depths. After serving hard and deep for a while you'll have conditioned your opponents to return hard and they might just overhit an easy ball and get very frustrated ;) Spin also becomes a very big factor to vary.

Use a medium speed with slice, so you have time to go to the net

Yes true, for me the slow return on the feet works best

I play on the left and backhand slow return feels often risky.. hitting the net too often I think. What is the key for good slow return.. would love a full video of return tactics maybe just with a whiteboard explain all options.

Great video man … I have a question though. If I setve in the middle can the other player return yhe serve or it must always be the diagonal opponent?
