So I wonder how the brushless Hart drill (HPDD26) I tested would compare with yours? I got the kit for $88 I think so it is in the ballpark price-wise. Like you saw the chuck is better on the one I tested and it also comes with that new battery with the battery level meter on it (the insides are probably the same, but I haven't checked). I did a field job last spring, someone forgot to pack the cordless drill in our job box. The closest tool/hardware store was over 100 miles from the job site but there was a walmart 20 miles away. We got a hart drill and some drill bits with the intent of using it for the day and going and getting a dewalt or milwaukee the next day before I headed out to the job site. We were able to drill about 90 1/2" holes and build 4 large shipping crates with 3" decking screws without any real issue with the hart drill, I was actually impressed.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect any real issues. Hart is owned TTI and despite the lower price tag, they have the experience to back it up. If you'd be willing to buy Ryobi then Hart would probably be good enough.

Dude I used the fucking HYPER TOUGH kit at work for a YEAR because my boss was a piece of absolute work (had to go buy all my own dewalts with my own poor ass $s) and tbh they WORKED. Not nearly as powerful but they got the job DONE. No problem! It took the entire year before their impact driver died and when it died it was during a comparison test to dewalt I was doing with a coworker. We just pushed it to it’s absolute limit (that the dewalts did far far surpass) but if you’re just doing normal casual labor they work absolutely fine

You got lucky. I got a 1/2 inch hammer drill and regular drill. Batteries crap out after 1 or 2 holes and the hammer drill stripped out its gears in 2 or 3 uses.

I bought them so I would have plenty of wrenches I wouldn’t feel bad about cutting up/ bending to get into weird areas. I don’t feel like the HT wrenches have ever unperformed in the slightest. They are an absolute deal.

Had good luck with Hart too as a back up when the crew forgets the drill bags at 3am and Walmart open, and we're still using it months later

I never thought I would see the day when a comparatively priced tool makes Hart and Bauer look like monsters in terms of performance.

Denali is easily the worst brand name in Chervon's entire portfolio. Worse than any power tool at Harbor Freight too.

Ferrex tools are actually decent from my experience, the cordless screwdriver has decent power and bit selection, and the angle grinder is surprisingly good for resurfacing material with a wire wheel or flap disk

Aldi's is way different in the US. They hardly offer anything but food, and its all basically one step above dollar store food. A lot of it is still good, but yeah just super cheap.

In Europe the Ferrex tools (Aldi) and Parxide (Lidl) are around mid-level DIYer tools. Many of them are supplied by Einhell, a german-sounding (relabeled) chinese brand that is not entirely shit tbh. But they are below B&D which is below Stanley Fatmax which is somewhat below Dewalt or Milfookee.

Yes, THIS! Also Lidl have very good tools for the price named Parkside and they are very popular in Europe. There are 2 versions: Parkside performance with brushless motor for 90 euros and green Parkside for 40, would be nice if torque test channel could test both.

@@Surmoka NOT TOTALLY TRUE... Look, A FEW of the Einhell tools are surprisingly BETTER executed than many "prestige brand" tools... Their bench grinder is the only correctly designed bench grinder that has a TRUE shaft end, that allows you to ACCURATELY mount a grinding wheel. Even a Makita bench grinder comes with USELESS stamped sheetmetal "washers" to "hold" the abrasive wheels, and it is almost impossible to get the wheels CENTERED and SQUARED to the shaft... The Einhell on the contrary, CAN be used to Precisely mount a grinding wheel perfectly!

Unfortunately Amazon will sell thousands of Denali tools. Remember a lot of home owners only use these tools only assembly box furniture or build bird houses. Unfortunately Don't know the difference in quality tools or Don't want to spend the money on them. Love your channel, keep it up.

I agree, and it should install flat pack furniture and hang pictures on drywall fine. It's why we didn't just review the tools alone, because obviously it will be low power and not do THE BEST. But I think the real crime is someone can spend that same amount of cash (sales changes things of course) and buy a better, higher performing, more durable product that already existed then have some headroom in the future if they need to use a forstner bit or drill through some metal

Ever since shop classes have removed from schools the trades have had trouble getting kids into them. Most don't know what a Forster bit is. I was terrible in shop. Went into electronics. I enjoy woodworking now.

I remember when HF was just a mail order business selling some of the poorest grade tools. That's changed.......although it's still low priced tools, they now have MANY products that are a good value.

I’ve been using a half dozed Bauer drills in a cabinetmaking class with unskilled coworkers for about three years now, and with the exception of a few batteries that died while left sitting on a charger for months on end during the pandemic, they have been reliable and powerful enough for everything we’ve put them through. Great video. Scott.

I found that Bauer kit at my local HF on the clearance table for $49.99. Been using it pretty aggressively at work for over a year, and It's been a trooper. have had the motor up above 300°F and the tool smoking on multiple occasions. It just keeps going.

While that might be the case, I can assure you that will increase the resistance in the windings and damage the insulation on them. Reducing the torque available each time until failure.

I’ve been abusing both the Bauer drill and driver in a municipal garage for over a year now, so I’m not terribly surprised that the drill outperforms the other bottom feeders. My Milwaukee and DeWalt tools are definitely nicer and perform better, but the Bauer complete kit costs less than single batteries for the others.

I came here to see these make their home at the bottom of the ranking chart. I was not disappointed. Thanks guys, I think we can all agree we don't need to see future Denali power tools on the channel.

At work I use a Bosch 12v screwgun to put rack screws for rackunits in road cases. We use the number 4 setting everytime for consistency. I think a really useful and interseting measure for you guys to check is the clutch settings on the drills you all have and compare that to other drills and batterytypes for consistancy.

The proof is in the pudding, you get what you pay for. They need to rearrange a few letters and just label it Denial.

I have the Bauer Drill, and honestly, it's a great drill. The Bauer is also the only one of those three that feels quality. I haven't held the Denali (which looks like a toy) but I've held the Hart and they feel cheap. The Bauer paired with the metal chuck and a 5AH battery, and it drills through hard steel with sharp bits just fine.

Wonder is Skil fixed its 2 know problems before making these. 1st problem: I removed all links on my channel to their drill cause they durst into flames. My Skil sponsorship warrantied 2 of them that caught fire. Now have a 3rd sitting on a shelf I fear to use. 2nd problem: I have a BMS circuit board swap video that gets 500 to 1k views a month cause the 5.0 battery BMS dies if used in the brushless grinder. 4 warrantied batteries and still dropping dead. Skil ghosted me leading to the discovery the 2.0 battery BMS is different. Bought used ones off ebay and rebuilt 5 of them.

I almost ordered a Denali 6.5” circular saw even though I already have a Milwaukee Fuel, just out of morbid curiosity to see how a saw that inexpensive performs. Ultimately I decided the money was better spent making 10 separate trips to Starbucks.

Owning better quality tools is better for the environment. Ryobi tools are mid grade and are a solid choice too, there are some carpenters that use nothing but, Ryobi, Skil, and/or Craftsman tools. However there are some DIYers that find that Festool is worth every penny not just Milwaukee, Makita, Flex, and Dewalt.

I must have 2-3 of them still from back in my days working in my teens and 20's. The batteries are definitely shot, though i do miss the slap in motion. Man nothing beats slapping in a new battery magazine on those, and that weird bumpy texture on those Makita tools that somehow just worked. I think their specific power output compared to today's stuff would betray my fond memories though.

Warrior goes on sale for $19 every couple of weeks and I bet even that crushes the Denali. For that price, you really can't beat it.

Who is buying "Denali by Skil" when literal Skil Powercore 20v tools are sold by amazon for the same price or even cheaper sometimes. You can buy that same drill/driver and impact kit in skil 20v for $85, you can buy just the drill driver kit in skil 20v for $61 or get a brushless skil 20v drill driver kit for $90. I would love to see a comparison of these Denali tools with skil 20v. It'd also be fun to see how they stack up against porter cable and maybe craftsman in a battle of the has-been tool brands. I feel like Porter Cable never gets any attention on KZread. I see them at tractor supply and they have a certain feel good heft to them but I just know they're probably junk.

Keep testing the basement variety tools please, it helps with perspective on how incredible the top end tools have become

It'd be amazing if you guys could test that orange impact that plugs into the cigarette lighter thats made by Mplus, its slow, looks like a blender, but somebodys made a few videos showing them using it to break loose axle nuts and crank pully bolts, and I just have to know what kind of beans that thing makes

Holy hell, that was a good video, man. I mean, it just doesn't get any more comprehensive than that. I spotted these tools the other day and wondered in my head if they were worth anything. These videos are great for someone who's in the market and just wants to down and dirty and eat their heart out with numbers to make as much of an informed decision as possible.

For anyone who is impressed by Bauer, right now HF has a combo deal where you get the brushless version of their drill and the brushless impact driver, with the 1.5 battery and charger for $99 total. And you can get two of the 5ah batteries for $80.

Home depot has a similar deal with Milwaukee's new m12 drill/impact kit, with 2 batteries AND a free 2.5 high output battery for $199. Worth the extra 100 bucks even for a DIY situation.

You know, I get that there's better tools than what Harbor Freight offers, but I walked into Harbor Freight yesterday and replaced about 7 rachets and a torque wrench that served me well, 2 of them being over 6 years old. 0 cost to me, walked in with broken hand tools, walked out with brand new replacements. I have a Bauer Impact Driver, an OLD Earthquake XT electric rachet and impact wrench as well, and especially the earthquakes have been extremely reliable. Even after being left in the rain on more than one occasion. I used to work for VW where a lot of the Veteran/Master Techs had SnapOn, Gearwrench, and a bunch of other fancy pants tools that were a joy to use, but to this day I still work on several Euro cars that I own and I'm yet to be let down by any of my Harbor Freight tools, even my Earthquake air impact. Damn I have a lot of tools from Harbor Freight lol.

You are correct that inertia does not affect your torque measurement as long as your resistance is steady or gradually increasing. I tested this after getting the same comments on my servo testing video. Search for "clough42 does inertia affect torque" if you're interested.

I’m a dewalt snob but my girlfriend wanted an impact drill for around the house so I got her a Bauer brushed. It came with a 1.5, charger, and bag. I was forced to use it the other day and I must admit it was perfectly acceptable and more than enough for wood drilling and driving 2.5” long screws. A steal for the $60 I paid.

I'd like to see how the Kobalt XTR hammer drill compares to the M18 Fuel and DeWalt XR. They advertise pretty similar specs to the Fuel, and if it really matches up pretty well in performance and warranty for a bit less money and compatibility with one of the cheapest battery platforms on the market I think that's a phenomenal value proposition.

It's not as good

Ive absolutely beat the hell out of my bauer and its just kept on trucking. The chuck is starting to give up and sometimes wont back off but its still going. Its lived a life of drilling through almost only metal

I got the Craftsman cordless brad nailer from Lowes for $99 but it didn't come with batteries. A battery and charger was $79 - $99, but they had the craftsman drill and impact driver kit that came with 2 x 1.5ah batteries, charger, and bag for $99 so I just got that. They are decent tools for projects around the house, I took em to work to try em out, they did fairly well, I like how they feel in the hand but my ridgid 18v's are more powerful, which isn't necessarily a good thing for what I do.

Was waiting for you to give this junk a shot. I'm curious to see how they compare to the actual SKIL tools, I'm sure you already have that on the docket though.

33ft-lb on the 1/4" Denali? Simply have no words for that level of performance...

a few years back when starting out in my job i bought the worxs brushless drill/driver impact driver combo kit , then bought some 4AH batteries and they served me well for a couple of years until i upgraded to the milwaukee versions . when i passed them on and as far as i know there still going strong today

You should test right angle drills on your drill setup. They can put out a lot of torque. I could loan you the Makita 36V beast of a drill (XAD03Z) if you'd like to test it.

Nice test rig! I look forward to more head-to-head drill/driver tests. Top picks for contenders would be from Worx (especially the Switchdriver) and a Hercules brushless...if there were such a thing!

$85 for the Denali impact driver kit (2x 2.0), or $89 for the Skil 20V brushless kit (1x 2.0) which is a vastly better tool and in my experience has enough power to hang out with an M12 stubby impact wrench. Maybe even beat the Milwaukee. There's pretty much zero reason to go for Denali when Skil already exists and get sold through Amazon for pretty much the same price.

How is it that nobody in this channel has truly offered the holy grail of impacts to be brought forth and amaze the masses? I’m not talking about the F1 guns, a swench, or even a jet turbine powered impact. I want business. I want to see the Craftsman that Andrew Camarata beat down for years and years on heavy equipment.

You could also make a adapter for this to function on cordless grinders and circular saws the saw would be places on a plate with a grove for the blade guide and shimmed to hight and angle grinder could use a 14mm nut to a shaft with atatchment for the motor

Not surprised, Amazon specializes in selling AliExpress quality products at inflated prices. Let's be honest, no one who is serious about purchasing quality products should be purchasing anything from Amazon these days.

Have you compared any of the other offerings from Harbor Freight? It would be interesting to see how Hercules, Warrior or DrillMaster rate against Bauer. I'm pretty sure I know how DrillMaster will rate, but it would still be interesting to see.

I never thought id ever see a harbor freight tool win in a competition. Im used to their tools being used as kinda cheap throw away tools when you need a really cheap specialty tool. Nice to finally see them win something though

Great video. It's really good to see somebody test drills. Especially the way Stanley Black & Decker use the uwo. I would love to see how the Kobalt XTR drill Stacks up against the Milwaukee and the DeWalt. I've heard great things about the flex drill At Lowe's as well. I actually bought the Kobalt XTR drill after watching the guys over on the vcg construction Channel test it against the DeWalt and Milwaukee.

Testing Wisconsin’s based Menards (our ‘Home Depot/Lowes’) line of tools; Masterforce. To compete with the other ‘store line’ of tools category and tools in general as Masterforce has a wide range of tools and Menards is getting to be in almost 20 states.

Got a few hart brushless tools from, the clearance rack at my Walmart. They have helped me SOO MUCH. Very underrated tools

I have Bauer Milwaukee and Makita and I love every Bauer tool I own. I really enjoyed that test.

What about some old school battery powered stuff? Maybe a video on how far (or not) technology has come with battery powered drills/drivers. And in a similar note, since older equipment might lose some performance. What about testing newer tools that have seen daily use at job sites and see how they measure up after a few months daily use

You'll probably need to use a legitimate encoder to get enough positional resolution to match the strain gauge which will more or less be limited by your DAQ

I was at advance auto parts and saw a couple items you may be able to add to the testing queue? Diehard DH80004 a 20v 1/2 impact wrench kit 140 bucks with 2ah battery and charger, rated at 300 foot beans. They also have a 3/8 inch 12v cordless ratchet DH80008, a 99 dollar kit with 2ah battery rated at 398 inch beans. Could be good in a budget comparison.

We use Hart impacts and sawzalls for drilling/cutting field tile, and we never really have a problem with either of them even when they’re super wet or muddy. When you’re in the hole connecting a line to a main, it’s more than likely gonna be super muddy especially if you already cut the hole in the main, and even then the Hart tools work fine halfway submerged under mud water. The batteries last like 10 minutes though and take forever to charge, that’s the only advantage our Milwaukees have over the Harts imo

I've had the Bauer drill for about 4 years, beat the crap out of it and it's running strong. My 20v dewalt I've had for 3 years and take care of the chuck broke last week.... I miss the power of the dewalt but Bauer is old faithful stll.

please test the Makita DHP481 I had this drill for a while and it is pretty powerful 600x8mm bolts are no problem, just a matter of how much your bit can take and how well you hold the tool

The fact they went brushed is crazy, the ozito pxc range here in Aus (I assume it's elsewhere I just never see video on here) are bloody unreal for the money you pay, 50-100 AUD gets you soo many different tools and a lot of accessories and some tools under 30 bucks. The ozito brush less drill is better than my makita that was the last of the brushed.

Thanks for this. I plan to keep buying the bottom-feeders until batteries become standardized (like wired power,) so it's Bauer until then.

I love my Bauer drill. I've been using it for about a year now.

You know, my biggest complaint isn't even that these tools are junk. Not everyone needs a top-tier power tool, and these are probably perfectly fine for diy'ers who want to hang pictures and put together furniture. But that's not how these are marketed. They're built on the Skil 20V platform, a well known brand and high voltage rating. Worse, they sell for $120. The HF Warrior tools these are probably closest to sell for ~$75 together (and they're only sold ala carte!). Walmart sells a similar kit under their Hyper Tough brand for $70, or $100 with a recip saw included! Craftsman has their combo kit at $99, and both Dewalt and Makita are offering 12v combo kits for a similar price the Amazon. The list goes on. Black and Decker? $85. Porter Cable? $130. Ryobi on Amazon? $86. Hell, HD will sell you the Ryobi compact HP brushless combo with a bag for $130. To someone who knows nothing about tools, these seem like a good mid tier option, when they're bottom tier junk priced 40-50% higher than they should be

(It did do the job really well. The bit where you can set max torque it will apply to the screw is fantastic for that task. Idk. if it's on every powertool but man that was nice.) It's interesting to see that no matter where you go, there's a large amount of knowledge about the tools people use.

Hey torque test, I would love to see a video of those amazon mplus 12v impact wrenches. All the videos online seem very compelling to buy one and keep in car in case of emergencies. But i would like to see if their claims are even close to accurate. Thanks mate.

would really like to see some of the m12 milwaukee stuff compared here. I had the really big m18 brushed drill for a few years and it burned out. Went to a cheaper m12 brushless and it has been great. Not terribly hard to stall out but also it's not snapping my wrists off if it gets caught. I believe it was $150canadian with two batteries. I got the "best" one that isn't a hammer drill because I have never successfully used the hammer function on any drill. Always a waste of time. Even use a tubing notcher sometimes with it and it's good.

I have the Bauer lineup. There's only one tool that I regret getting.. the 1/2 inch impact. No stronger than the 3/8 and 100% more awkward. With a drill, unless it's trash, I care more about ergonomics. That Bauer has plenty of beans for me.

do you think it would be possible to test the batteries themselves with the battery tester, then compare that to the measured wattage to get the efficiency of the drill (might be difficult as some efficiency loss would be in the testing motor)

I want to see you do the brushless heart hammer drill I recently picked it up and it's definitely more powerful than the Cobalt I run

I use my Bauer drill nearly every day at work for misc tasks and so far 2 years in I've had 0 problems and it's took as much abuse as my Dewalt stuff can't complain for the price

You want a long boi, pick up the brushed Hart half inch drill driver. (And to a lesser degree, the brushed impact driver) That baby is unreasonably large and heavy.

If they are much cheaper, then they will be great option for diy or repurposing its parts into some projects.

Have you ever tested Craftsman drills or drivers? They may just be Canadian I suppose; they used to be available at Sears in Canada til Sears went belly-up, now they're available from Lowes. If I recall, they're part of the Stanley Black & Decker company. The ones I have work great, excellent battery life. I also use Mastercraft tools, from Canadian Tire; they're passable I guess, not sure who makes them.

Installed one of those vector motors 2 weeks ago on a stretch wrapper. $110 motor? Hell ya.

Right now you can get a Bauer brushless drill, impact driver, 1.5amp batter and charger for $99. Assuming the brushless is at least as good as the brushed in this test that's a heck of a deal. I'm tempted to buy it and I already have a drill and impact driver.

Thanks Guys.. These are the kind of Tools to keep in a Vehicle You are not worried about getting stolen if they are usable for the Task at hand. I buy Auction/used tools for My truck I'm betting all Mfg's now a days have TTC in mind when making/designing tools. LOL Mike M.

just get cheap rachet and a Hamer for impact driver if you want a upgraded one just use a snap on rachet I personally use the $10 craftsman one that came with some sockets and case and is also brushless I also find it verry flexible in terms of space and beans variation

I have had surprisingly good luck with Cousin Eddie Bauer tools.

Hey TTC, could you test the chuck strength? Maybe how good the run out is on them?

My dad has an old SKIL cordless drill an other than the battery being Ni-Cd and lasting a whole 2 minutes while doing something until it gets unusable, the drill itself is not bad at all. I might rebuild the battery with Li-ion cells so it's actually able to do some work.

I bought one of those new. Used it once, put the battery on the charger for the night and the battery overheated and never ran again ever.

Interesting that the Denali 4Ah and Skil 5Ah batteries had such different results. I had assumed these were just the basic 20V Skil brushed tools in weird colors. (To their credit, Amazon had discounted these to be crazy cheap in the past month) Makes me wonder if the red Skil brushed actually would differ in performance. The much fancier brushless 20V Skil had better do more... (Seeing the brushless 12V Skil I'm comparison would be nice: I've been quite happy with them so far, drill punchier than an older brushed 20V Craftsman, and impact driver almost as powerful as my brushed 20V Craftsman)

Some efficiency testing would be cool watts in vs watts out

Would love to see more from the skill 12v line.
