In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

    I thought they were going to disqualify Russel's throw because his left foot was just past the mark. Thought it was going to be another Joe Wilkinson.

    With Joe Wilkinson, the Task included not stepping on the Red. This task was "this attempt must be made behind this stump". Russel finished his "attempt" at throwing before he passed the stump in his follow-through.

    @@terryfuldsgaming7995 both haven't really felt the need to develop wisdom. Both seem to get by just fine. Brains are overrated, I suppose - with over 6 billion of us. Trump is there because the 'smart' people sold off entire industries for a bit of profit. Like Oxycontin was willing to basically make addicts out of all them overly frustrated people without batting an eye - blaming them for the opioid crisis they themselves created to obtain a few bucks. The US army sends young boys to secure investments and they get to pay with their mental/physical health, their blood and a few with their lives, again for a few measily bucks. NRA, same bull, like healthcare in general. America explains Trump pretty fine; its concept runs on a massive load of gullible patriots, puppeteered by a few greedy fatcats - and everyone seems to think that is normal - a shining example to the world: Peoples brains have always been messed up that way. The vatican did the exact time thing for a few centuries. It always comes crashing down - history repeats. Because we so smart... Thank god Alice has a lesser grasp of reality...

    As someone with ADHD, the ideal is to have one practice round where you can do the task you came up with in your head and then revisit the rules to figure out what they're really asking. Neurotypical people may ask why not read and understand the rules first? Because that is very hard for my brain. It is boring, I may have to reread them several times because my brain doesn't want to focus when it's bored. Let me try it out for myself, though, and my internal motivation will carry me through and make dealing with the rules much easier. This kind of learning model has been shown to be effective for neurotypical people too. The whole idea of "grammar in context," for example. The traditional model of lecturing students with grammar rules that they have to memorize is demonstrably ineffective. Most people find the rules hard to understand and memorize and often forget them immediately upon leaving school. BUT with grammar in context, you ask a student to write a whole essay or story about something they care about, without worrying too much about grammar. Then you as the teacher go over it with them and explain corrections that they should make, and why. Then they make the corrections and you go over it again. Repeat as necessary. Neurodivergent or ND people might need a practice run. But everyone can benefit from it. That would be universal accessibility.

  • @janeeyre1990

    @janeeyre1990

    Oh, and I mention ADHD because misinterpreting rules and excitedly doing your own thing is very characteristic of hyperactive/inattentive people. I also suspect that there are a ton of ND people, specifically people with ADHD, in comedy because it provides an outlet for our constant need for stimulation, variety, excitement, etc.; does not [constrain] us with rigid rules regarding behavior or how we manage our time; and suits our tendency to be night owls. it's not really THAT incomprehensible. obscure has several meanings you can almost think of it as a degree of knowledges. two of which are both Russell and Asim's interpretations. it can also mean something unknown or known by a few (rare/endangered/extinct while we know of them in theory, majority of us have never and will never see one - hence obscure), and non-existent is also unknown, hence obscure for obvious reasons.
