try a loose arm wrist and forearm in the back swing. zero tension and absolutelty no wrist rotatoin or cock by force. the rotation and cock will come from your hip and shoulder turns. then feel like you are looping the club under. ball position must be per ben hogans 5 lessons. this allows us to make your swing from inside out and make unbelievable contact just about every time, effortless truly wonderful.

important to mention is that this swing works for HIM. And basically no one else. He is really flat and basically needs to steepen his swing plane in order to get to impact. Similar to fitzpatrick, fowler. His hands are lower at impact then address. That's something almost no one has.

The lag in the backswing is reminiscent of hogan. The hips start the downswing and the right elbow stays in tight. Then club releases once the hips are cleared

Sergio shallows out the club when starting the downswing by droping his right wrist but does not close face by closing the left wrist. Only thing he can do to get the correct shaft plane is to slide the entire entry point low and across his waist to contact.

So he’s not the king of lag. The shallow swing from the front view creates an illusion that he has this crazy lag. But go try to shallow your swing in front of a mirror, then move the position to a steeper position. Exact same angle, but the shallow swing looks waaaaay more laggy than the vertical swing. He has the same angles as every other tour pro.

@@STEEPPOW Good evidence and justification for your answer bud. You’re wrong. Yes, he has lots of lag, but the human body has anatomical fucking limits lmao. That front angle where it looks like he has like 45 degrees between his hands and the clubhead is absolutely the result of the shallowing move, as wulfdog said. He doesn’t have some magical wrists that can radially deviate twice as far as you and me. It’s the shallowing. Again, stand in front of a mirror and see for yourself.

I disagree with the previous comment. What you're seeing is Sergio taking the club back, setting his wrists, leaving the wrists in that position until release and the reason the club looks like it's dropping at the start of the downswing is because he's tucking his right elbow down towards his body. Try it in a mirror. Set up like you're going to swing facing a mirror. Bring your hands back so you're at the top of your swing, then, leaving everything in place make one move, that move will be tucking your right elbow down towards your body. You see what happens to your hands in the mirror? They drop, the club head drops, the shaft drops, etc. All because a big part of his first move is tucking the right elbow down towards his side as he begins his downswing.

@@scoolzdevries Negative...It's what 'BeyondGaming' mentioned. He's turning his hips first and as a result, the club is shallowing out on its own back in the slot, where it belongs. Go check out 'GGswing Tips' videos. He covers this quite thoroughly.

The shallowing move here is usually typical for two plane golfers who swing more upright. He pulls his arms vertically down. It is interesting that he does this while he swings back on one plane. I think he can do this, because he is small (1.78m). He stands quite erect at adress. A taller golfer who swings laid off like that on one plane cannot allow himself that shallowing and must turn the body instead.

@@chubeviewer When you are laid off like this and pull down the shaft with the arms, the shaft gets steeper. Sergio Garcia is completely laid off, but manages to lower his arms without steepening the shaft. That is what I tried to say. He does this by maintaining the forearm rotation. But that is very hard, even for a professional. (Bryson is not a one planer. His arms are above the shoulder line in the back swing.)

@@arcangelobonaparte8572 Who’s a good example of a one plane swing? Also does shallowing like this/dropping it into the slot get you a big speed boost, or is it just a consequence of your hips rotating/clearing/more lag. And that being where the speed comes from?

@@chubeviewer You get more speed from a two plane swing. Watch Larry Mize or Payne Stewart. Effortless power. A one plane swing requires physical strength. It can give you more accuracy however. I remember Hunter Mahan doing everything on one plane. He rises it on one plane and returns at the same plane.
