@@francoisevassy6614 I've suffered through one French dancer in Ivan and will never do so again. French dancing is fine for things other than Grigorovich, but they are not good in this ballet.

@@BalletomaneM They were very good a few generations earlier… but Claude Bessy did a great harm to the company by not admitting great personalities in the school, we are paying it now ! Believe me : one wouldn’t have wished to cross Atanassoff’s way when he was Ivan, Nijinski’s faun or the man in Bejart’s rite of spring !

Sort of terrifying. It's a good ballet.. reminds me a little of Spartacus.

Из зала, интересно, как смотрится? Свет, да, но чёрное на чёрном... Вообще красиво, но плоско как-то, стереотипно, клюквенно... И хореография получше бывает. Короче, после фильма не очень... К тому же, ни одного Басманова не обнаружено, что печально)

I didn't know this was a ballet until just now! This part of the film is a banquet I want to say? It's the only part in color, my CD said someone found some color film on a dead german soldier during WWII and gave it to Sergei Eisenstein. Hmm, that's one of those pre-internet facts that I never looked up... so don't quote me...

This is from the very end when Ivan is gathering all the boyars to get revenge for their murdering of his wife Anastasia. This is him getting the oprichniks together to begin the massacre.

Смотря на всё это я задавался всё время вопросом: "Да что здесь, чёрт побери, происходит?!" Какое-то клюквенное (даже чересчур клюквенное) изображение Ивана Грозного. Видимо основывались на мемуарах Власова, ой, то есть Курбского и на Романовых.

Я ,понимаю-отсутствие царей в Европе,понуждает полагать мотивацию на своё понимание,но обратите внимание на инверсию смысла у двух славянских народов,граничивших с ... К тому же последующий феномен реконкисты народа-восстание под руководством Минина и Пожарского, не знати, а народа,Карл!!!, должен,как минимум,заставить задуматься всякого культурного человека.
