Even though Serena didn't make 24 this run, based on her fitness and movement, in my opinion is the best she's looked since winning while pregnant, she'll get there before all is said and done! I have no doubt when she makes her run the next time, she'll be victorious without a doubt! GOAT

She is just great I agree she will get there. After giving birth she had three major surgery and still reaches U.S open final eventhough she didn't win the final i think she had excell so fast after C' section, another surgery to close back the wound when it burst open, them another surgery to remove blood cloth from her lungs, in the same breath while attending to a new born and still reaches final, Osaka was lucky she clashed with her at that time or maybe she wouldn't have make her name at the time. Serena is just a super player who was very hard to be beaten in her time and for sure i think she will be back on peak despite her age because she is still strong.

I think there's an argument to be made that Serena's issue with playing Osaka is largely psychological.

yes good observation, naomi hits the ball too flat and hard so serena really had to put topspin on the ball and the time was less hence she couldn't complete her motion

Since her return she has never been at her best, still she reached 4 grandslam finals, 2 semifinals and some quarter finals..only oskaka has reached 4 grand slams finals, no other player on the tour not even Barty has made more than 2 finals despite at her peak.. So this generations can't match serena's athleticsm, even naomi is at her peak only reched 4 finals.. But serena is serena despite not at her best reached 4 finals.. Hats off to her..

The best she has played since return, she should've sent that same message (huge forehand) at the beginning of the match to Osaka. Instead I saw her very nervous and tentative against her.

Three things IMO: 1. Simona said she wasnt dissapointed in her performance this Australian, but I think she played poorly pretty much the whole tournament. 2. She always had the best fits.

I can believe Serena was playing this good just two years ago.

I feel like since Venus and Serena stopped playing doubles, there singles game suffered especially their net game. Maybe I also missed them playing doubles too but I remember when they used to be so solid up at net

Yes I love serena.but you have to lift your game in quarters, semi, and finals. What happened in semis w osaka? Well Serenas been playing better, she beat sabalanka and halep, i hope she lifts her game in us open and wimbledon. Dust your shoulders off Serena and dont give up, get better and go for it at us open and wimbledon. Study osaka with ur team and come up w a plan to beat her. Period. Good luck and God Bless.

Wow, I haven't watched any tennis for a couple decades...and started watching stuff from back in the 70s that I remember...so much excitement all over the court and special skills hitting the ball from all kinds of contorted body positions. This modern tennis is b-o-r-i-n-g. Basically they just stand there on the baseline hitting the ball back and forth until the ball gets a little too far away from one player that they are too lazy to try hitting it...they just stand there and watch it bounce by. In the old days the players would be running and reaching for it with gusto.

LOL Lazy? Modern player are like 10x as fit as the players from the 70’s. They’re also more skilled. They disguise their shots and hit behind their opponent, making sure that it’s impossible for them to get to it. This match is also played on a fast surface in the middle of the day, which speeds the court up even more. I don’t think you realize that the ball is going so fast that it’s flying past players before they can even shift their weight.

The woman has won 7 Australian opens and regularly wears body suits during tournaments. You don’t attain her resume if you don’t thrive in the heat. She trains in Florida, where the heat index is very high most of the year. She’s also stated in interviews that she prefers the heat, but people just make crap up regardless, despite all existing evidence to the contrary.
