After her song "Dzanum" which went viral all over the world thanks to Tiktok, now we have a sequel in the form of Ramonda. The title of Teya's song "Ramonda" references a flower known by its latin name "Ramonda serbica", an endemic species that only grows in Serbia and around it (some parts of N.Macedonia and northern Greece), discovered by Serbian scientiist in 1884, a flower which is known for its ability to completely dry out and still revive once it gets water, a flower that can straight up come back from undead. Very similar to Ramonda Serbica is Natalie's Ramonda, flower of the same genus, In Serbia it's known as "Natalijina ramonda" named after the XIX century Serbian queen Natalija Obrenović and it's used as a symbol of victory in WWI. In Serbia, to mark this day we wear a phoenix flower - Natalie's Ramonda, capable of resurrection, just as Serbia after WWI, in which it lost almost 1/3 of people. In fact, the song can also talk about loneliness and the ability to have everything in its place one day. Just like Ramonda flower only needs a drop of water to come alive. In the official video clip of the song, there is also a quote from the Gospel according to John: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." The island in the video symbolizes Greece, Corfu. That's where the Serbian soldiers retreated in WW1 in a seemingly hopeless situation, being chased to be finished off by Axis forces (like Austria Hungary and flanked by Bulgaria, who wanted a piece of the spoils). Greece took the Serbians in, gave them food, shelter, water... Many died upon arrival and had to be ''buried'' in the sea surrounding Corfu, since there wasn't space left. Absolutely hauntingly beautiful message and ode to one's ancestors who faced near impossible odds. There is even a museum in Corfu with lots of memorabilia from that period.

This is alredy one of the favourites. You are the only one i see that didnt cry or get emotional watching it. Its easy and safe qualifaing. Especually being the only emotional, haunting and elegant balad in a year full of basic and generic uo beat crazy song. And the song did explode like what?

powerful but sophisticated, she chose easy transitions. Not noisy but strong enough to give ultimate pleasure, both with her voice and body, staging as well, and to stand out from the crowd. For me in this case less is more and she have done it perfectly, no matter what 🌷

PZE had a good standard this year…it was quite surprising…Ramonda is a delicate fragile song which needs a paired visual and vocal climax. Konstrakta had the stronger song but offered an anti “what’s next, what’s better” approach so delivered similar staging to her last entry which read as stale - that was unfortunate. At least this song offers counter-programming to the many high-energy and left-field entries this year.

Very interesting trivia: scientists from the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering are using this "phoenix" characteristic of Ramonda flower. The flower has this characteristic thanks to LEA proteins in the leaf which decrease aggregation of alpha synucleins and then forming fibers which is similar process happening in brain of people who got Alzheimer's and Parkinson's desease. Sorry for maybe not precise scientific explanation. I am not an expert. My dad got Alzheimer's so I read news article on this topic sometimes. 🙏

Wonderful work of art that might unfortunately be 4-5 years late. Giving me Arcade vibes, as well Viktoria from Bulgaria 2019/2020 era. That said, this will do well - probably lower top 10.
