I work with adults with disabilities and we have started to do monthly dances at our building. Last month was full of technical issues and ended up having to ditch the board + use Spotify to do the music (if y'all ever hear an off-beat/laggy echo through your master, make sure the "play through laptop speakers" is not enabled cause that was what the problem was) But next week I will have my DJ board all set up to do a set with all the songs they like!! Not an aspiring 'club' DJ here but I like to play!!!

Another good tip to stop you from loading a track on a playing one is in DJ preferences. Just check the called lock playing deck

That Command R shortcut is what I've been looking for! I used Rekordbox for a few years and have now moved back to Serato. It would drive me crazy that I could not easily go directly to the file like I could in Rekordbok (Rekordbox has a right click menu). Never could find this shortcut in Serato's documentation. Your channel is great. So much amazing info with no BS! Thank you for the awesome videos.

Another Great Video Nick. You can also use Flip to create clean edits of songs. What I use it for at times is when I get a song that usually 13 year old mitzvahs kids ask for it typically only has a dirty version(even using record pools they won't have clean versions of certain rap songs). So i'll set cues at the explicit word and when flip is activated i'll hit the censor button on my mixer or controller at the moment the word is going to start and it will reverse the track and then keep going(similar to the auto roll technique) making a clean edit.It really comes in handy when I can't find a clean version on a record pool. Hope this helps.

Good stuff nick. Most important feature to me besides perfect tags. Is perfect beat grids for every track. I started on vinyl. Yes I’m old. But always embraced technology. Been on serato since version 1.1. I use every feature. Just cut my library from 100,000+ tracks to 50,000. Goal is 12,000 tracks with perfect tags and beatgrids saved loops and an 8 bar flip. This process will take 10 years minimum. Than I’ll do it all over again for my video library. If only serato or pioneer could streamline this process. Lexicon is great but the auto cue generator is rarely accurate.

Very cool stuff I got to get using Serato flip now Good reminder on the saved loops I can never figure out how to save a loop to the pads section and activate . You have to hit shift somehow I use a Dj-sx2

Great video Nick now if we can get Serato to change where the search tab is and put it closer to the center where songs actually populate it would be a great help and less if a stretch if you’re not using the shortcuts.

Really good ideas I love the composer column for wedding stuff. What do you use in the Album Column ? I find when I use grouping column it seems buggy in serato ! Things don’t always stay the same as iTunes column

Great Video Nick. I was wondering if you did a video or know were to grab the Serato Files and what files to grab in those locations and use them to duplicate your master PC to your back up PC. Also a ton of songs in my files that show the Song Name ect on my Pc are blank in the Library section of serato under Track.

Started using saved loops recently and won't go back. Need to try flip now. Love the commad+z feature idea

@@NickSpinelli WARNING!!!! As much as it is fun, it can be overwhelming at 1st. Not everything it does is as smooth as Serato, but their library management features are definitely the best when it comes to personalizing.

Now that is a feature Serato should add, there's unfortunately no way to tell to my knowledge

Would you happen to know how to rearrange the position of the BPM column to appear as the FIRST column instead of the colour marker column? I would also like to drag the number column off the page .

Yo, you know of any "Tips & Tricks" with the Pioneer S9 Mixer using Serato? Also Command+Shift+(either L or R Arrow) will load the Track Playing on the other deck exactly where it's at in the song. So if you have a scratch routine and you predominantly scratch with your R or L hand you can prep for that on the fly....

As always, great video. To bad VDJ does all those things one way or another! The first thing you talked about, putting a track on another track and it playing. VDJ will ask you if you want to do this before it even plays that song! But still great video!

What music pool do you use?

It's any possibility to add any sort of "notation" to songs BUT this notation to exist ONLY when the track is in a specific crate (Playlist)? For example, I'm making some "color notation" of tracks that are placed in Crate1. But if I have the same songs in Crate2, i don't want to see the notation from Crate1 of the songs.

Nick you forgot to add the dreaded Q key. I can't tell you how many DJ's i have seen play songs in reverse and don't know how to fix it.

Great tips! Just an add-on or two: 1. While you can save loops they will not auto "arm" when you load a track. Use [ to arm L deck loop, , for R track loop. Flips will auto arm, go fig. 2. I did a 15:00 flip Ted talk fr ARMDJs 12 that covers remix & censor. Msg me on FB if you're interested. 3. I go one deeper with track comments...including first names and any crazy pronunciations

Best SERATO tips and tricks. Uninstall Serato and install Rekordbox

And if you where using rekordbox, 7 minutes was't enough to tell about it most what i hate in Serato is that it don't have right click pop up where you can select everything you can do on selected area so you must watch 5 times Nick's video to remember every tip

I'm new and I'm resdy

Serato bpm counter is not great and sometimes way off so i do find myself tapping things in once in a while.Sometimes there is no bpm.Sometimes no key oh and key is also kind of a rough guide .The other niggle is when im sorting crates and the bpm on the deck is not the bpm on the crate.That happens all the time but its usually in the ball park of what you are playing but when putting tracks in bpm order its annoying.Itend to think of Serato,s key and BPM as a rough gude to get your crates in some kind of order then you fine tune from there and that is a never ending task
