Lovely vlog ,, I think the orange makes all the other colours pop ,, maybe use less of it if the pattern allows but keep it in to make your item sing. Thank you for the live sheep interlude it’s good to see the different breeds in close up. 😊.

Happy surprise! You're back! Missed you. Our local fiber festival is this coming weekend. Its name keeps changing so this year its Adirondack Wool and Arts. Our guild will be spinning there both days Jen from Whispering Pines Farm (super soft Shetlands) will be there. Speaking of which I finally got brave enough to wash the fleece I got from her. Yes, you inspired me to do it. WOW! So amazing. I spun at a farm tour location today with Tunis x Finn wool that I washed at our guild's last event. So enjoyable. See you again soon.

Wonderful video! Looks we both had a lovely time at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool! It was a perfect day, wasn’t it! I’m doing the MKAL 2023 also; and I agree, my knitting skills were bumped up by this shawl. I didn’t do it last year; I started but didn’t like my colors. I’ll maybe start again! This year, I love my colors! And can’t wait!! Sending you my best. ❤

You just popped up yesterday, finishing today.Your sample spins would be so gorgeous in a shawl either held double with some of your white handspun or that red spun with some of the locks. Finnish knitting stories has done lots ot interesting shawls. I personally am hooked on alpaca as spins so nicely, warm and soft. have socks, shawl, scarf, sweaters of handspun but used the scraps of acrylic for scrappy blanket so can toss it in washer. Since I spin for knitting a project , I use bottom whorl simple spindle doing as many plies as I want then ply directly from the spindle onto a much longer dowel spindle. My unattained goal is to not have to stop knitting and spin more. I do appreciate all your fiber showing, means I don't buy!! 12 fleeces are my limit

It’s so lovely to see you agai.. I m from the South West ofWestern Australia.. have finalllyb go back to my love of spinning after doin quilting for over 30 + years. Like you have just mentioned.. I think about all the things I have accumulated craft wise..and I am busy getting my quilting machines nd fabric Rudy to go! I found you channel asbout a month ago.. and you have certainly shown me a lot of things that I am relearning and lot that is so new to me.. When I learnt I had to go to groups.. as I had a hobby farm with boy own flock of melanian sheep. I made coats for my sheep..all different sizes as their wool grew..anyway thats enough from me! I am only 85 years young.. and busy now with my spinning..don’t think I’ll start weaving again though. I love all your collections of spindles too.and my Valkyrie combs are hopefully arriving here next week. I’m back now to watching you❤😊

Joan, it’s lovely to hear from you! I hope I am still making things in 20 odd years, too. You are example for us all! So exciting for your wool combs. Did you get the pad to clamp to the edge of your table. It makes it easier to pull off the wool from the combs but if not you can still clamp down the comb if you want. Thanks so much for introducing yourself. Let me know how you get on with your combs. 🤗

Hi Lisa! You got such lovely fleeces, and that MKAL yarn- I love it!! I would definitely keep in the orange, tho the one you swapped in was nice too. But that orange, for me, is the winner. I’m MKALling again this year, I’ve picked from stash & have mohair(s) that I will likely add as a ‘mohair dare.’ I’m going to use lovely shades of brown- basically because I had a set of 3 & not much else in my fingering weight stash is solid/semi solid! They have some Bond sheep descended from the moorit Bond flock imported to the US by Joanna Gleason. I didn't know they also had some of the Corriedales from Whitefish Bay. Mirkwood spindles have “infinity ball” in the tip making them spin forever without slowdown. People who start spinning can benefit from these spindles, the only drawback is, once you tried a Mirkwood spindle it’s hard to find a better one after ..

Loved the podcast today…. ❤ Your fleece purchases are gorgeous! I like the colors for your MKAL and agree that the coral would be a better choice than the bright orange. Maybe you can wait to decide until his clues get to that color…. I’m one of those people that wait until the MKAL is over to decide if I’m going to make one. I tried to do one with a different designer but did not like how it was progressing. I really did not like the finished shawl that other people completed and since then have not joined into the MKALs …. To each our own, right? 😊

Your flicking hand or your fiber holding hand? If I spin for too long I can get a little repetitive stress pain in my flicking fingers. Taking frequent breaks and using a little arnica on my sore joints helps too if I’ve overdone it.
