Amazing!* 😀👍 *10:54** looks to be a lead Roman 'Defixionum', or 'curse tablet'. They'd inscribe a prayer or curse on a small rectangle plate of lead and then roll it up, sealing their intent/wishes.*

it was a great month back to reality now

Congratulations on finding the Roman solidus! Almost exactly thirty years ago my friend and I found 20 solidii including coins of valentinian II , all in an area of 2 square meters! Six of the coins were of the emperor Eugenius and were quite rare, They are now in the British museum. I strongly recommend that you thoroughly search that area because there is bound to be more seeing how perfect that coin looks. Thanks for reminding me of our great day . well done Tinner. HH

Fantastic find. Well done. However, it seems so many detectorists go to the field without a container with water they can wash the coins on the spot. Rubbing a soiled-covered coin on cloth can so easily soil it! Pun intended!!

Amazing. You are fortunate to have so much history around you. Here in the US most coins from 1700-1800s are considered "old" and are rare finds. I cannot imagine the age of those coins. I am a new subscriber the time frames quite well enough to know that they are just old. A suggestion for those of us farther away you might consider giving us an approximate such as 1100 or so. Congratulations on the gold!

He did, it was in the video at 5:37. the date is between 375-392 AD so maybe 1640 years old!

You are so right. I must have missed it thanks. Ok that qualifies as ancient! :) Maybe it is the way everyone there is so ummm restrained. If I found that I would be running around the field for 1/2 hour or so and that is after I got back from the hospital. LOL Thanks again.

Wonderful finds I do say tinner 455, but do you declare any of your finds with the British authorities & the land owners that have given you permission to look for relics on their land? If yes I commend you.Spot on !!! Well done!!! We need more like you in our field of keeping our English heritage for our children in the future. If not you are contributing to England`s ongoing battle on our lost heritage of items from long ago due to metal detecting,so damn sad. I am in the same field as you are most of you guys ,going on over 32 years now. From an avid follower of this subject.

Trans Am Bandit 1978 He's videotaped this find, that's a record all in its own for the children of the future. gorgeous find. I'd hate to have to give that away.
