these are multiple clips of SEPTA’s 2005-2006 (8000-8119) New Flyer D40LF bus models
These diesel powered buses are soon on there way out after 17 years of service with only around 88 left in service
These buses were powered by
Cummins ISL 280 engine
ZF ecomat II 6HP-592 transmission
As of April 14th, 2023 the 2022-23 New Flyer XDE40’s 3529-3530 began service on the 29 and 79 and are soon expected to retire the D40LF’s and DE40LF’s

Those New Flyers in Philly are workhorses.
I see 6 d40’s on the 15 will hopefully be lucky to make it to 2024. If not RIP to them. They lived the longest out of every d40. Update 8083 and 8075 were both retired.

I take the 21 everyday as I was work at 38th and Spruce, The McDonald's at 40th street is gone it was torn down.

those were the older and retired 2003-2004 D40LF’s. the 23 used 2005 D40LF’s until 2015

D40LFs are no longer stored at Midvale

two retired D40LF’s from Midvale are kept at germantown storage. They will be moved when they show up for auction or will be scrapped eventually
