FR like im going to turn 14 soon, I got acne at 11/12 so my mom got me a very simple cleanser, spot treatment and moisturizer. My acne got really bad a year ago we went to the dermatologist, she prescribed 2 things and my skin is WAY better. There’s nothing wrong with playing with makeup or putting on lipgloss but they’re putting on FOUNDATION, RETINOL and ACID. It’s not even that it’s how disrespectful they are and for kids a few years older is awful cause employees think I’m going to do the same thing. 😭

I think that there needs to be a rule in place, like- kids under 13 have to shop with an adult. This is not because I hate kids, but if you look at the prices of some of these makeup and skincare products, they are not cheap. Definitely should also have the rule where if you ruin the testing products, you have to pay for it, because Istg these kids are doing this to the test products because they can’t afford to get their own and that is NOT acceptable!

Hello, I am a 13 year old who has just recently started shopping at Sephora. I have NEVER touched a tester for skincare. If I do, I grab the tiniest bit with the swabs they provide. I wouldn’t destroy products ESPECIALLY if they aren’t mine. I also only shop there when I am with my mom. She educates me on what is good to use for my age and what I can wait for. Parents should be with their kids in more grown up stores like Sephora. I don’t think we should ban kids, I think we need to educate them on how to use everything properly. I’m not defending the kids I’m just stating what we can do. This is just my opinion and my personal opinion!! Thanks for reading all of this if you did

The problem is that allowing some kids means that all kids have to be allowed, including those who have disrespectful parents who never taught them manners. I don’t blame the children, they’re being raised by their phones and iPads as opposed to being raised by their actual parents, who are meant to set a good example. I’ve found that the rudest children are those of millennials, which checks out, they’ve had a rough life lol 😂😂 I certainly think that they have to enforce some sort of age restriction, parents have to monitor their children at all times, and if a child is found alone or is destroying products, the child and parent are to be removed and banned from the store, whether it’s temporarily or permanently.

I went to the mall yesterday and saw the Sephora filled with 10 year olds alone in Sephora with like 2 baskets each filled with drunk elephant, makeup, skincare etc.on top of that they have phones in their hands! I think we should enjoy our childhood as a 12 year old girl like we are blessed with soft baby skin! I get we are growing and getting older and we all have acne, but that when all we need is a gentle face wash and a moisturizer! Like we don’t need plumping lip oil with serums and toners!!! Im not even an adult and im mad, kids like me are so immature, the only skin care / make up i used \ use is the PLAY eyeshadows from clares and lip gloss and water , Vaseline, mascara (sometimes) , moisturiser, no need for kids to have the newest bubble or drunk elephant skincare, its so weird how 10 year olds are ruining testers, now people cant test if they want it or not. Kids are now saying clares is cringe when it's made for kids and I still beg to go there for the lip glosses and hello kitty stuff, there wasting there life on things that are for mature people who need it. When they start using it it's going to react in a way where it destroys there skin sense they don't need it, I also blame it on the parents because they're aren't watching there own children and letting them get whatever they want, letting them destroy there skin, not even telling them it's bad. Now and days my age has became the most destructive age ever,(I'm not gen z I was born in the millennial years but I'm still a kid)

As a millennial, I’m giving you an honorary millennial card for the Claire’s name drop. Your parents are raising you right. Although I do feel bad since Claire’s is really the only place for preteens nowadays. Kids and PTs don’t need expensive makeup to experiement with. At that age that’s kind of what it is, it’s experimentation. $5 shadow from Claire’s will suffice.

This has been a problem since around 2015, even in adult stores, there’s no decent clothing, and anything that was more modest was from a clothing store for office workers 😂😂 Luckily though, I’m starting to see a turnaround in the crop top trend, and people are starting to wear full length shirts again. Hopefully we never bring back the late 2000s/early 2010s fashion through, that was horrific. I’m already starting to see some of it come back, but I’ve been mentally blocking it all out 😂😂

I used to have fun in Sephora and felt free to ask employees what would be good for my skin and what they recommend but now that Sephora ten year olds are a bigger thing, I feel sooo self conscious. I literally tell my mom or sister to follow me around to store and stay close to me because I’m so anxious. One time I was in Sephora just looking at the glow recipe toner because it’s good for clogged pores and an employee was keeping a verrrry good eye on me anytime I was near a popular brand like that. It just pisses me off how some innocent 12-14 year olds also have to pay the price of this foul behavior

I’ve nvr seen messy testers, but I hav seen hoards of ten year olds walking around the skincare section. I only use moisturizer, sunscreen, and a hydrating gel. As a 12 year old, I first want to start by first off saying this is absolutely disgusting, the way young adults, and older teenagers are handling this. If you do not feel comfortable in a Sephora store with a younger child that has the same interests as you, leave. I’m sorry hun, but you don’t own the world. You’re not the queen of everything. If you’re bothered, honestly just leave. Nobody is hurting you, just looking up to you. It is very disturbing how you’ve made it your mission to shut down young children’s hobby’s with makeup. Nobody really cares what you think about their decisions, or what products they buy. It is none of your business and dose not apply to you. There is nothing wrong with a younger audience being interested in the same products as you. Yes, they may not need it, but they want it. I get it with retinol, but otherwise everything’s basically out of jealousy. I’m sorry that when you were a kid that was not popular and you did not have an opportunity to afford nice makeup products like younger children can now. Please stop this. It’s unfair.

I used to work for Spirit Halloween and this past year I declined my position because I can’t handle being around the out of control kids who behave this way because their parents either find it funny, or just straight up don’t care. Expensive items completely destroyed because of kids and parents filming them doing it. I now work for The Home Depot and I gotta say, your kids don’t belong there if you refuse to pay attention to them. It’s not a playground. A stack of 2x4’s is not playground equipment! So many injuries because of parents not paying attention or simply not seeing a problem with their children climbing on home improvement materials. If we say anything, the parent gets mad, says we have no right to tell them how to parent! We’re not telling you how to parent, for f**k sake, we’re trying to prevent serious injuries! Stop taking your children to retail stores and treating the store like it’s a playground for your kids!

I personally think all ages should be allowed in sephora but you just have to be respectful to the products and people. I do agree with most of what you’re saying but just because you havent gotten your period yet doesnt mean you can go to sephora because some people have acne before they get their period and also sephora offers multiple things other than makeup and skincare like good quality haircare which you should be using (shampoo, conditioner, hair oils). Skincare can be used at any age just depends on what you’re using. Have a good day!❤ (no hate intended)

My favourite perfume is right next to the drunk elephant section and i have seen 5year olds running testers. I have alot of social anxiety so i can’t bring myself to say anything. Anyway I apologise on there behalf. We are not all like this!

I’m a 11 year old who is pretty new to Sephora. My mom says I’m not allowed to use drunk elephant bc they have bad ingredients for kids. When I go to Sephora I buy perfume, lip balm’s or lipgloss. I would NEVER touch a tester and ruin it. I only go to Sephora with my mom so she can limit me of what I buy. And I would never steal something and if I did I would kill my self. 10 year olds has to understand that their ruining their skin at such a young age. My mom has always told me if I use retinol and ingredients for adults at my age my skin is gonna be ruined by the time I’m older. No hate to the 10 year olds but they don’t need retinol at such a young age.

Your mom is right. Retinol is meant for 25/30+ year old skin and is a harsh ingredient, but if you have acne during your teen years you can use adapalene (differin) which is another form of retinaldehyde, but it’s specifically meant for acne.

Now that I'm about to turn 16 im JUST starting to take interest in make up the only things i have is eye liner mascara and lip stuff these kids are getting more then me and im about to turn 16.. the problem is their parents letting kids that young on social media in the first place qnd just letting their kids take their credit cards qnd leaving them alone... If they whine, cry, and complain after not getting their way they don't need no make up products

I’m 12 and I don’t use testers or mess around with them. Personally I make rules for myself when it comes to skincare and makeup like no foundation and find the recommended age for a product. Also I usually pay for everything myself.

I’m 12 and I ❤ Sephora , but I know that if I go I need to act responsibly with all products, place them back where they belong, use all products safety, not use retinal peptides acids and more damaging products that can harm my skin. What I recommend for all 12 and under is a cleanser made for kids a moisturizer , and chapstick. We all need to use products as they were our.

i honestly think they should make signs that say kids under 13 need adult supervision in the store- this is outrageous and so wasteful and disgusting- they’ll end up taking away any and all testers, which is unfortunate for those of us who are older and responsible and who have a sense of decency

This is gonna be super long so apologies in advance. I was just at Sephora yesterday. Now I was there with my best friend and she takes forever to shop so we were there for like 3 hours…..not only was the Drunk Elephant section perfectly okay, as well as Glow Recipe but there weren’t any kids in Sephora at all while we were there, and the only people checking the products out were college students and grown adults. I think a lot of us need to stop acting like Gen Alpha is the first and only generation to be into skincare, makeup, and luxurious items because they’re not. Literally us Gen Zers were going crazy in the early 2000’s for Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture, and then the 2010’s it was Too Faced, and Clinique…almost all of us were into makeup as teens and even kids, whether it was stealing makeup from our mothers’ makeup bags, playing with play makeup from Claire’s and Limited Too, having those kiddy styled makeup vanities, or going to CVS to buy some makeup….almost all of us have had an intro to makeup when we were younger, we’re just shocked to see Gen Alpha being way more into it. Now do I think little kids need to be using expensive makeup products and heavy skincare products? Of course not, they don’t need it however….there’s nothing wrong about a child wanting to play with and experiment with makeup, and skincare just for fun. As for skincare, it’s self care…..just like how we have to wash our bodies everyday and take care of our bodies….well, the same goes for our faces because we should wanna take care of our faces. I just think that kids need to do actual research on what products would work best for them, as well as go to a real dermatologist. I think a lot of us grown adults need to stop making these videos because it truly makes me wonder what the actual goal is with these videos. Is the goal of these videos to showcase their “bad attitudes?” If so, that starts with their parents, a lot of these parents have bad attitudes and don’t really try to raise their kids….Is the goal of these videos to get kids to stop using expensive products? If so, there’s way to do that and to teach them that without making videos to practically shame them, and tearing them down. Or is the goal of these videos, to shit on them and tear them down so much that they eventually end up hating themselves, losing all of their confidence, and have no self esteem regardless if they wear makeup or not? Society and social media already makes these kids feel insecure about their looks…..Gen Z, and millennials don’t wanna be the reason that Gen Alpha ends up hating themselves for life over this.

The problem starts with improper parenting and social media. When we were younger, we didn’t have access to easily see what products the grown-ups were using. The only way to see what was trendy was by flipping through a teen vogue magazine at the grocery store or finding a computer, usually at the library or a computer lab, and searching on Firefox lol. Kids now are being influenced by adults. There needs to be an emphasis on child friendly forms of media, since kids aren’t watching cartoons, reading, or playing outside as much anymore. Also, I don’t know about you, but I only started to know about Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture after I hit puberty, before that I used to always wear GAP.

When I was a kid we used to get lip balms from the grocery store, it would either be baby lips, lip smackers, or eos (when it became more popular later on). The problem is that kids see all these fancy things on social media and think that they need it, when in reality, they’ll do just fine with some Vaseline. They have such easy access to the internet, which makes things worse, it’s like a positive feedback loop. When we were younger, we could only see the trends in a teen vogue magazine or on Firefox at the library/computer labs. I wasn’t aware of any trends until I was older, and wore mostly GAP for all of my childhood. I have no idea what OP is going on about when it comes to VS and Limited Too, because I didn’t even walk into those stores when I went to the mall lol. I still don’t even feel comfortable walking into VS. 😂😂 I didn’t even own makeup until I turned 16, and even then, it was just a lip gloss, 3 lip balms, and I liquid blush that I bought myself for my birthday. At 17 I owned things like concealer, mascara, lip tints, blushes, eyeliner, and a tinted moisturizer, but I had my mother’s approval with every new item I wanted to purchase.

I’m 12 and I never try to make so called “skincare smoothies” with the testers at Sephora because honestly it’s just gross. People my age have such a bad reputation and it sucks to grow up in the same generation as them. I still go to Claire’s because it’s actually fun there and nothing is destroyed. They should make grownups go with their kids if they’re under 13 cause it’s getting out of hand.

As a 12 year old, when my 10 year old sister and I go to Sephora or Ulta, we are super respectful with all the testers. Of course, with being super excited about seeing all the products, we use tiny amounts and only use them for WHAT THEY WERE MADE FOR. These kids making skincare "smoothies" are outrageous, and I can't imagine the position they put the workers in. I have never seen a video of these kids' parents saying "no", and they're rarely even with a parent in the store. I'm so grateful I was raised to be respectful of other people and things in public stores and in private. I hope these girls notice what they're doing.

Never in my life have I visited, nor even been in a Sephora store. After viewing many of these videos, mainly about 10 year olds in Sephora, I certainly think that I never will. Sephora is also very expensive, and I could easily get a nice skincare product or makeup product from a much more simpler and cheaper place, such as a local walmart or target. The Sephora kids also appear very terrifying, in which they probably are, which is another reason why I'll NEVER go to Sephora. EVER.

I never had to before that because my mom and sisters would provide me the STRICT NECESSARY products I needed (and I had acne like most of the teens). Maybe some parents don’t even know their kids are doing something like that, thank god not every children/teens are like that. These persons have no sense of respect or social awareness and it is bothering because it is much more than a “I want to what adults do” effect. We all have to be respectful and have limits as an adult or a child ❤
