1932-built Sentinel Steam Bus 8714 "Martha".
The 7 tonner registered KG 1123, was originally a truck but had the replica bus body added in 2004.
This video was filmed in 2008 when we took a brief ride at the Kirkby Stephen Easter vehicle rally .
When we first saw the bus the weather was very cold and we encountered early snow flurries but a few hours later the sun shine came out and we had a great day.
We have attended every rally since its beginning in 1998 and seen some great vehicles and ridden on so many preserved vehicles.
Two man crew in the tight cab , driver and the fireman coal man stoker keeping an eye on the fire and the pressure in the boiler. The heat was blown into the saloon which was a blessing that day but also the fumes and smoke come within too and the noise and the ride on solid rubber tyresPoor quality footage filmed on a GEC camera which had film capture capability in the day.
Still memory card storage was very small and expensive so a 16GB card would cost over £80 so photos took priority over video, and some cameras would only work with a card 32gb or less.
