@@brookejulia to be fair, there is some psychology behind learning in a group setting vs. learning to learn for yourself - there are all kinds of distractions at school, and the teacher has to try to teach to everyone's learning style, whereas on YT you can find something that works for you, and that might not work for everyone - I know learning in school is tough, but be kind to your teachers and the good ones will do their best to help you learn.

I don't remember learning this in school. I wish I had. I've always struggled with solid grammar as a writer. I'm in a Grad Studies of English Language class that introduced me to this. I can definitely see the benefit of this approach for revisions of my stories. Awesome!

I began watching in order to familiarize myself with parts of speech in English. It is so different then Latin, early developmental Greek, Aramaic or ancient Hebrew. After years outside this country it took time to reassimilate complex English until I went from my base of German. Now I’m hooked!

Thank you for posting! Very helpful to me as a kinesthetic/tactile learner first then visual learner. I have recently been diagnosed with Dyslexia (my struggles are with memory and comprehension). And my limitation is writing so I am wanting to develop my skills and take the time to learn for myself.

I just recommended that the editors of the local newspaper watch this, as today they has this hypertext headline on their online edition, and I later found it to be the same in the print edition. "Springfield man accused of shooting baby caught by federal agents". This elicited several questions. Why would federal agents catch a little baby? And why, after doing so, would they let a man shoot the baby they caught? And does the paper only hire incompetent editors?

I agree about talking quickly, but I'm a Brit and it's fine by me. Thanks for the great video about this. I was struggling with sentence structure and it's going to help a lot. I'm off to do some examples to get it in my brain. Grammar is very hard for me, I'm not sure why, it just refuses to go in my long term memory for some unknown reason.

I had this last sem on my Structure of English Language class and I fialed most of the time but I passed it with a good grade anyway. I just wish I watched this before our midterm exam I could've gotten a higher grade then 😂 Thank you for this it was really a helpful review for me ♡

The day I found about sentence diagramming was when my 3rd grade teacher told me to give the sicky note to one of the fifth grade teacher so I gave it to him and when I entered in the classroom I was so confused and exited to learn about this when I go to fifth grade so when I asked my 3rd grade teacher to teach me how to sentence diagramming she didn't. Really know what that means . But my sister did so she taught me so when I went to fifth grade which I was in now I already did knew how to do so when he taught harder stuff like when I went to lesson 16 of sentence diagramming it was very easy for me .

I am an EFL/ESL teacher. Is it possible to diagram odd/erroneous/anomalous sentences my students make with these diagrams in a way that illustrates where or how a sentence becomes odd? i.e. And we made sweets at pancake mix.

Every sentence here is simple and my teacher straight gave me the most complicated sentence to go off of this that he doesnt even explain because its so complicated

What if the direct object is an infinitive phrase? What should be put after the main verb then?

I had never heard the word "the" described as a "determiner". I had always heard they were called "articles". And I'd love it if you could tell me where that final period goes within a set of quotation marks.
