this is so sad, this guy was a beast playing in brazil when he was young. He played for São Paulo youth categories and everyone expected him to the main team and help us get some trophies. He also signed a new contract in 2019 despite not being happy with the situation, so he's clearly a hypocrite. If he wanted to play for a single team he could have years ago, was more than happy to just get paid the easy money though.

This is quite common for youth academy players that play for big teams. This is not the case for teams that have mande a name for themselves by producing promising talent ( Borussia Dortmund). The insatiable need for triumphs puts extra pressure on coaches and that often pushes them to rely on players that have proven themselves in other teams, rather than give a young player the chance to play.

Chelsea probably offered him the most wages at 18 and that’s why he decided to sign for them. He set himself up financially for life

At the same time there were players at the club who managed to get their chance. There was Oscar, Moses, Christensen and many others. Changing coaches affected everyone and everyone had to perform for the place in the team. Piazon also extented his contract with Chelsea, if he didn't like it in here he could have just not extented his contract - simple as that.

normally they sign 4-5 years contract, but lucas said in the 1st to 2nd season in chelsea he still hope he can get to the main team. so maybe in that first 2 years he sign 3-4 more years extension.

I really liked Lucas at Fulham, had the passion you don’t normally get from loan players and we would’ve definitely liked him to stay. Sad case being Chelsea almost definitely asked for silly money to make it a permanent and he wasn’t a nailed on starter. Hope he’s doing well for himself at Braga now with his good friend Rui Fonte :)

Mohmad salah and KDB already did it. Literally if some player flops at chelsea that doesnt mean player is trash its just that club management is trash. They keep fucking switching managers like clothes..give any coach some time. It takes time to bond with the players and make a team. Roman is so impatient ffs. He wants result asap or he sacks the coach. Football isnt just buying top.players and winning titles.. Klopp took 4-5 years just to make liverpool win UCL and PL title after 10-15 years. Guordiala made man city win Back to back PL titles. Zidane made real madrid win 4 ucl titles and la liga title with a broken team.

Pros and Cons: It sucks that he didn't stay somewhere he really wanted to be at (Fulham) but at the same time, so many kids would've loved to have had his experience. Travel the world, doing what you love and getting paid for it.

@@ManuelPerez-ef2ym if he didnt wanna go out on loan he can just say no. That'll mean no game for him. Just like how tomori bailed a loan move last summer window. But he went out on loan failed to be good where he was sent. No clubs wanted him permanently. Simply put he was a wonderkid who couldnt take it to the next level or had a big ego. He had run out of contract like 2 seasons ago he renewed it instead of living. Why you may ask? For the bog bucks and also the fact no one wanted him. Now he is trynna play a victim card and pulling a media stunt.

Yes, Chelsea did what I used to do in Football Manager, buy a player very cheap, loaned it with 100% wage condition & some money each month, and in a couple of years player is paid, I start to making money from him and the player never play for my team. So, Lucas Fernandes & Eder Militao (Sao Paulo) Kevin N'Doram (Mónaco) and a bunch of regens... I'm sorry. Business is business.

Amazing story about him

The spend hundreds millions of money to get a good player like ziyech definitely they want to use him instead of other players... They get a lot more salary too.

On one hand, yes. On the other hand, why don't clubs simply sell these players when they know it's not going to work out? And surely players will get the hint after their fourth loan spell and the umpteenth big money signing on their positions that it's pointless to keep fighting for a chance that's not going to happen in a million years.

Marco has just recovered from a long injury tho. As a PSV fan born and raised it's good to see him back at our club again and he has been playing in matches since the last 3 weeks. He hadn't played in a match in like 950 days because of the injury. Though we have good faith that he will become a important member in the team along Götze, Malen, Sangare, Ihattaren and Gakpo

@@gijs8250 its crazy because i swear MvG was set to become Lampard’s replacement. If i remembered correctly Mourinho rated him higher than KDB and Salah but the knee injury really fucked up his Chelsea career. He was so good at PSV when he went back on loan.

@@KennethU anterior cruciate ligament injury. It's in the knee. It happend way back in 2013 but it came back around 2018 again, he had another surgery than which kept him out for 2 full seasons

As a Fulham fan I was gutted when I found out he wasn’t staying, seeing this is heart breaking

Piazon is an interesting case. We had him on loan at Reading a few years ago and it never really felt his game was suited to the rough and tumble of the championship. Technically very gifted, could win a match with a bit of magic. On the slip side, he was too physically lightweight and lacked consistency. As someone else said he didn't have to renew his contract and maybe his story would be different; but cannot be blamed for doing so either. Good Luck in Portugal Lucas Piazon! 🎹

Such a shame, as a Chelsea fan I always wanted him to do well and break into the first team as he was a fantastic talent. I was gutted for him when he missed that penalty against Villa a few years ago. Wish him all the best at Braga! ❤️
