I’m so lucky to have been raised in a household filled with Jimmy, Fats, Billie, Jelly Roll, Satch, and the other greats. They are my treasure.

Great stuff! I like it when Rushing occasionally glances at Basie in between his vocal phrases. It's like he's saying: "Yeah, we're gettin' down, ain't we?"

Thank you dearly for posting. Since seeing this on Ken Burns' jazz documentary I have been taken by it. The energy, the performance, and so long ago. Little compares!

I decided to listen to this song because Maya Angelou quoted the lyrics to this song in the opening lines of the 3rd book of her autobiography. 'Don't the moon look lonesome shining through the trees? ' I expected something more sombre. Quite a surprise too see this cheerful man tap dancing.

Fantastic video! I've been a fan since I saw the film clip of "Take Me Back Baby" on UK TV about 30 years ago. Hadn't seen this one before. Hilarious seeing him try to dance at the end.

:D You are an American treasure Ken Burns, but THIS clip should've been ONE of the many promo clips advertising your wonderful Jazz documentary! ;)

(Cont'd) There's more to Rushing. "I Want A Little Girl." "Mister Five By Five." I still hear him belting out, "Santee Claus, Santee Claus, listen to my plea..."
