What should be the duration for every activity on the sensory circuit?

Sensory circuits can be done at intervals throughout the day when your child requires a sensory movement break and time to regulate. The duration of each activity is dependent on the child's arousal levels, if they are highly aroused you may spend more time on calming activities, if they have low levels of arousal you may spend slightly longer on alerting activities. We would advise 1-3 minutes on each activity on average

Are there any tips to try to get the attention of an autistic child to try to wash his hands and sit down for snacks?

Carrying out a sensory circuit before these activities (hand washing/ snack time) may help to support a child's regulation which in turn may increase their engagement in daily activities such as these. You could also try to use a visual schedule to help with the steps of these activities. Check out our video on how to create a visual timetable kzread.info/dash/bejne/gomu2reJj5yep7g.html
