One of my favorite songs ever. Mark Keds was so cute and full of class, like a mix of Pete Doherty and Kathy Jane Garside, and he still writes songs that are actually better than 90% of todays bands.

This very song, nay, this very VERSION of this song, is the first song I ever moshed to. I'm in there somewhere shaking my teenage fringe to this. A life-changing day out that one. Awesome.

I had this on my video of The Beat's best bits too. What a performance! Best bass instrumental ever. I remember meeting Morgan in a Tube station around this time and being proper awestruck. Just found out Cass is playing with an old school friend of mine in the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

Class speeds up and slows down egregiously for a drummer, but he is so good. Morgan is fucking great too m

Thanks for extending my vocabulary! (Had to look up what egregious meant! I never went to uni! 😄) Regarding the slowing down speeding up aspect, I was kind of giving them/him the benefit of the doubt. Putting it down to maybe a stretched old video tape recording. Cos if you listen at the beginning around 0:02, the guitar sounds stretched out of tune, if you see what I mean. I could be wrong tho, I often am! 😊

@kanedasrifle I think they came along at the wrong time- the dominant mood of the early 90's was more one of acheiving altered states and/or wallowing in pre-Millenial tension: Sexy, glammy rock, which The Senseless Things embodied, was really outre. They would do better now in these post-ideological days...

I saw these a couple of times, late 80s. One time they moaned about the people at the back (us) not getting into it or something. As if we all had to worship them or something...bollocks to that.
