Sennheiser HD 620S headphone Review - Surprise Hit?
Ғылым және технология
The new Sennheiser HD 620S is a closed back headphone, intending to be similar in tonality to the legendary HD 600 and HD 650 headphones loved by many. As a closed back headphone, there are tradeoffs to be expected, but there are also reasons why some people need a closed back headphone. In my review, I discuss everything from comfort to sound quality, including performance in gaming and how it compares to other models.

This is the best review of the Sennheiser HD620S I have seen. Talked about the graph, compared them other other closed backs, talk about the clamp force and how these relate to the rest of the Sennheiser family. Honestly you covered it all and in a very straight forward and honest manner. I've gone down a rabbit hole on these and plan to buy them when I can but as far as what everyone else is saying I can agree, these seem to be one of the better closed back headphones to date. Sennheiser put in the work and got something actually usable. Closed back headphones aren't easy, there is a reason you struggle to find a good pair outside of the Sony, Bose, Beats and Apple wireless headphones. Glad Sennheiser pulled it off in a way.
I genuinely laughed out loud what you put the red Hifiman’s on 😂

@@GadgetryTech Just got them. I am quite pleased with them for what they are, but I think they are a bit overpriced. Compared to my HD 400 Pros (which are the most accurate pair of headphones there probably is), there is overall less dynamic. The HD 620s doesn't sound like an open back, but it does have the same type of "soundstage" due to the angled drivers. I think the slight bump above 100 Hz helps mask the less dynamic nature of the driver (due to dampening) and adds a bit of warmth to the overall presentation while keeping a relatively neutral tonality. I don't have a problem with that. The tonality of the mids are quite good, but not as accurate as the HD 400 Pro. The biggest weakness of the HD 620s is the treble. It's definitely not bad by any means, but compared to the HD400 Pro they are less detailed, less clear, and the timbre of hi hats are a bit unnatural.

@@qw9 They'll sound very good out of anything you plug 'em into, but an amplifier definitely gives it that last 10% of awesomeness. They sound divine with a questyle M12/M15 dongle, it's my favourite pairing so far.
I don't usually do requests/suggestions, but given the fact that you're one of the only reviewer for anything sound related that I find very useful and trustworthy, I'm actually curious if you'd give the Sony Bravia Theatre U neckband thing a test, especially since that there aren't much coverage on those.

Isn't that bump at 110 hz made so it would fit gaming? I can't recall, but I think I read these focused on gaming? Anyways. If you eq the 110down a tad do they get that deep subbase? Great channel this is. ✨
Can we get a bit more in regards to comparing this to the Maxwells? Which sounds better, bass and overall fidelity? Is comfort that different on longer periods because we are comparing a suspension strap with really good spreading of the weight to a fixed cusion headband. Thank you, love your reviews.
Would love to see you review the ath-msr7b (second gen msr7). Personal favorite closed back

If you were to eq the Rode NTH-100m how does it end up comparing afterwards with the 620s technicality wise ? Also i feel like havin the regular DT770 Pro 80 ohm would be better since thats the one most people have(one of the most popular ones still)
I wonder if they might be alright for mixing. I really miss the Sennheiser's HD8, which I was in love with. I was wondering if they were anything like those considering they are closed but with a little less oomph in the kick drum region. DT770 have always been a bit much in the highs for me. Also wondering how durable do these feel.
Looking for a good New headset to use on call of Duty - Warzone , I was thinking of the 560s but I'm not sure, are there any other good options ???
How do these compare to the DCA Aeon Closed X?
I love my 560S, but have been wanting something better for sound isolation when family invades my gaming space 😊. I’ve considered the maxwells, but last time I tried them, I couldn’t tile the discomfort they caused. Wouldn’t 620S be a worthy “upgrade” from the 560S, while also providing enough passive noise cancellation to drown out a TV blaring in the background?
How would you compare these to something like the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro for imaging and soundstage and other headphones currently on the market? I am trying to figure out what would work best for pinpointing footsteps and where my opponents are

660s2 should ideally be the better choice if you don't care about noise isolation. Open backs will always have better sound quality than a closed back one. Plus 660s2 is an upgrade over the 20 year old 600s in every way, so yes its a better choice. I own a 660s2 and its the best headphone I've owned
The Sundara closed back could have been a market disruptor had it been tuned like an actual sundara closed back. Hopefully there is a mk2
HD 620S or VZRs for gaming?
Am I missing something? No disrespect but the 620s are a no go especially compared to the Dt 770 Pro X LE where straight of the box become alive. Brilliant tuning to say the least. The 620s imo just didn't excite but then again I don't have any of the upgrading tuning devices either. Excellent review. I can't wait for your review of The Dt 770 Pro X LE in which I know I hope everyone will enjoy as much as I. Shh the secret is out...Aune-AR5000 is another to also consider.

See I think I'm the opposite. I don't like the DT770 Pro X, they sound too thin, shouty for me. Mostly because when compared directly to the 620S they have less mid bass and more treble. 620S have less sub base and less treble but a much better mid range. So they really are for two different types of people. You will either like one or the other not both. Also for the price difference I think Sennheiser have better build quality. (Just an opinion).
@user-ot6ti9mu3i

@@burns0100 it is amazing how two people have a difference in hearing and interpreting sounds. Aside the Senns having a pronounce midrange they simply lack sparkle transparency air if you will.. How you describe the DT 770 pro X is exactly how I hear the 620's. No umph no dynamics sounding just like another Philips HD..very cardboard sounding. In my opinion.. the Beyerdynamics are epic in comparison. .dynamic soundstage that punchy bass airy instrument separation midrange sparkly highs without fatigue. Lol I guess I love my Dt 770 pro X which is funny because I have never enjoyed a Beyerdynamic until now. Thank you.

@@user-ot6ti9mu3i It's very much a case of two similar headphones with different tuning takes (basically focusing on different aspects of the frequency response) and then how our ears reproduce that sound.
