    Thank you for the video. In my opinion, you were quite harsh on these headphones. Both the Sony 720 and these were class leading (of the ones I tried, along with consensus amongst other publications) at this price point. I found 1 of the criticisms valid (they are a bit tight) but the problem with the other knocks is that you simply cannot compare this offering from Senn with other offerings in significantly higher price brackets. Consider for example Senn gives you here both manually adjustable eq and wizard driven. How do we come to a knock conclusion because we don’t have the gold standard of both simply because an esoteric AKG has the feature? For the price point, I found the package of build quality, sound, controls and ANC to be the best for me, with the 720 right in the mix. My 2 cents.

    I really loved that app eq test functionality in my Momentum 3:s. Really just a fun interactive way to do it. The kind of problem is that with headphones that you'll often be using on the go, you might want different frequency responses when you're, say, on the bus, or in the office or school, or at home.

    @@thefoolsgold The Momentums 4 "M4" were great sounding headphones. But the touch controls, weight, warm ear cups and the feaulty auto on/off feature in the case were the main issues. I actually like the earcups on the Accentums a little more (they feel slightly bigger to my ears comparing) and I dont get fatigue after a couple of hours because of the lighter weight and foam on the earcups as to M4. I would say the Accentums are a little more cold sounding with about -20% bass compared to the M4. I think the M4 were to bass heavy before EQ.

    I like the idea of showing FR graphs with preference “boundaries,” but I think you should still always show the Diffuse Field target as a dotted line. Otherwise I don’t have any way to gauge the “boundaries” against my own auditory memory of regions I know I’m sensitive to from other headphones.

  • @ResolveReviews

    @ResolveReviews

    9 ай бұрын

    So we're not using a 'diffuse field target', we're using the DFHRTF of the measurement rig. So this is compensated to flat DF, NOT tilted DF, if that makes sense. The tilt is the preference bounds - I think I showed it a bit in this video where you can see the 10dB slope within the preference bounds to help folks get a sense of that. But, in truth that 10dB line is just a far more coarse grained view of the preference window. It's the same thing, just without the nuances of preference variation around that 10dB tilt.

You don't know me, you don't know my tastes, you don't know how smart your "smart" systems actually are - so just leave an optional "advanced" or "manual" mode, and explicitly color-code it in orange and red, and put a big label on it if you have to... and let it be.
