Humans have been using paper for money starting from the early 7th century. But of late, crypto-currencies have seen a rise. 🔐
The government is not a huge fan of crypto due to the lack of regulation, so they made their very own crypto called e-RUPI, and here’s what it means for us.
An e-RUPI is a digital token equivalent to our fiat currency i.e., the Indian Rupee. ₹₹₹
Since they are digital money, the cost and speed of transactions are vastly reduced, ensuring seamless service over long distances at a cheaper cost 💸
An added advantage of digitizing money is that you can program it to ensure it is utilized only for a given purpose. The government can utilize this feature to ensure that the money goes to the scheme as planned and not elsewhere. However, there is a fear that the government can program the money to monitor the public and control our spending.

But in my clg due to direct benefit transfer getting full scholarship amount directly. It will also prevent misuse of money given for social welfare. This has been already successfully implemented in finland and Norway for migrants from africa where money is being used for the purpose of grocery and essential not gambling and drugs

This wil increase government and bank control over what you buy, what you eat, what you sell and where. This in combination with the increased digital and physical surveillance, powered by AI data analysis might very well lead to a surveillance state so powerful even george orwell couldn’t have dreamt of it.

Brother, that's a dumb statement 🤦♂️. You can PROGRAM your money to be spent in a particular place. Every rupee won't be programmed as such. It is to prevent scams, like imagine CG transferred an amount to SG to pay for the subsidies or retirement money, it will prevent the SG from spending or sending it somewhere else.

E-RUPI is not CBDC as far as I know, it's a prepaid voucher to be used for a specified purpose, which is different from CBDC, the CBDC is called E-rupee and not E-RUPI which is payment instrument developed by NPCI
