@@judithaabner4027 I understand the principle, and with the hyper partisanship of today it is an important safeguard to have(heck, there's a law that says you can't arrest a congressman on his way to a vote to prevent underhanded shenanigans). I don't like that the man most likely to immediately benefit from this has justified his election interference with claims of protecting the integrity of the election, even after this very same court ruled against his claims.

It is important to recognize that, while previous and current presidents can be prosecuted after leaving office, there are complexities involved, such as Biden's cognitive decline, which, according to SC Robert Hur, who has suggested that, could impact the feasibility of prosecution (paraphrasing). That benefits the current president and all the alleged corruption by the Bidens.

What law was broken?

Is this really a win? He can still be prosecuted for actions that are not official duties of the president, such as election interference and attempting to force a state to "find votes". On the flip side, this ruling would also apply to the current president, so his actions as president would also be immune to prosecution.
