Not risky at all if you want to own the stock anyway. If it stays OTM then you collect the premium and do it all over again and sell another Put next week/month. If it hits your strike price you will get assigned and keep the premium but you wanted the stock at that price anyway so it’s a win-win strategy. I do it all the time. Same with selling covered calls. Amazing strategies!

I won’t lie I found Henry when I was a total noob to options and he explained it the most clear on KZread. He is a great option teacher but some of his bets are just wrong apple is not even safe at 160 🤷‍♂️proves knowledge won’t save you if you are not a good stock picker

I get the value of selling puts... but I could use some guidance finding stocks offer premiums that are worth the trouble.

It's a stable strategy, but if I sell a $160 put on apple, I should consider $16,000. dollars of my portfolio committed until expiration, right? Even though it's highly unlikely to drop to 160, it still seems like that commits a large amount of capital for a fairly small gain.

That is correct, you would need $16,000 just in case you get assigned but you need to remember the strategy was set for you to own the stock for that price anyway. The premium is just a plus. If you don’t want to get assigned you can always buy back the Put but you would be giving back the premium you initially collected and maybe more. Hope this helps.

Not at all. You can take it on margin. Does most suggest that. Absolutely not. So people are keeping their money in short term bonds. Or some other commutes thing where you might not have actual cash sitting there

How much money do you need to sell SPY options? For selling 1 put (100 contracts) you need at least $53,000 on your account in case you get assigned.

Just to be clear, a $10,000 a month income on 2% gains requires a lazy $500,000 account

2% per month?! 2% per day is a better goal. Sell SPX put credit spreads at 85%-90% PoP, 1-7DTE and switch to credit call spreads if the trend turns down. Call credit spreads keep at 2DTE max. 32% return this month so far, 82% last month, -8%, 63%.

you should try to use options terminology to help newbs, at the money, expires worthless etc

I am very new to the trading scene, watched an almost 2 hour tutorial on how to trade options, but I still don't really get it. I really want to learn how to properly do it. I read these charts wrong most times. Do you ever trade for others? I'm interested. I have about $95k set aside to test the financiaI market waters.

Options are not like normal financial instruments. Even in the normal structure they are complicated. You cannot expect to understand them from 2h video. Especially if you want to do more than hedging.

It's really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It just requires a certain level of diligence, which is something ordinary lnvestors lack, and so a financiaI advsor often comes in very handy.

Everyone who sells the idea of CSP didnt want to talk about the common pitfall of it. IF you get assigned AND the stock keeps falling, u are stuck because the Calls u try to sell are worth pennies or zero unless u have more powder to sell CSP on other stocks.

Hey greetings from germany... one question... when ur sell put option get assigned and u have to buy the stock AND u have the money in ur account. COULD u not just sell the 100 stocks? or ppl dont do this cuz its a tax event? i mean if my strike price and the stock price after expire isnt so far away (few pennys) i would just sell the 100 stocks and use the capital somewhere else? isnt it a thing? when no why?

I just sell leap puts on the SPY on big down days on like 12 to 14 delta. With good risk management, the win rate is super high.

Thank you Henry for always explaining and teaching free of charge here. We appreciate you. I’ve a suggestion sir, is it possible you also explain with Cash account? I mean some of us have tiny accounts and it is cash, we don’t those financial guarantees to profit from Puts or Calls as passive income. We only do with short term (like right now only) calls or puts. Cash accounts are different. In addition we don’t have abilities to do “sell” & “buy” at the same time neither several screens etc. Some of us are fairly new but also trying to trade within our means. Please assist us. So “sell” is kinda complicated for cash accounts. But “buy & sell premium” is more feasible.
