Selling Gold to an Online Dealer

Selling gold isn't a topic we cover here much. Let's fix that. I sold some of my gold using an online dealer to get an idea of how hard the process is. Turns out it isn't hard at all. The implications here range from what we can buy to how quickly we can sell. I think it's one of the most important topics to cover before getting too deep into the gold and silver journey.

    I had exclusively stacked Maples, Eagles, and Buffalos - to be able to resell when the series of price explosions actually occurs. I got sloppy and looked to add a little diversity picking up a an Australian Kangaroo, a 2023 King Charles Britannia, and a Beast of the Yale of Beaufort, just before the prices took off. I don't have an LCS to build relationships with so my only options are price out from an SD Bullion, a JM Bullion, an APMEX etc. All my "diversity" brings me to just keep them and enjoy the coins and maybe pass down later in life. Thanks so much for all the info you put out - watch you everyday!

    Thanks for the video man! Question.. you said you didn't have "reporting requirements" because you took a loss. Would you still have to file a 1099b form to document the loss or only if it's a gain?

  • @2is1gold

    @2is1gold

    Жыл бұрын

    A 1099-b would only come into play for specific things like 25 oz + or CMLs, Krugs or Mexican Onzas. There are similar triggers for bars and junk silver. A for 8300 would hit if I exceeded $10k. You're supposed to self report regardless, but I don't have anything to report (unless I want to report a slight loss). Cheers!

    I’ve been only buying AGE’s for a while now because of the ability to resell. I used to mix in Maple Leafs and a few foreign but it just doesn’t make sense to me anymore. I know the AGE’s may cost a little more but when it comes time to sell, there should be no issues. I am surprised how much lower you can get the Maple Leafs for nowadays. Seems like those have really dropped off. Not sure why, they are a beautiful 24k coin. Great video!

    Great video sir 👍 I always assumed that if anything was going to require selling though the online bullion dealers, it will be any Platinum I buy… Unless something completely changed I’m not sure we will be seeing Pt as popular again in this lifetime that LCS’s will be picking it up (atleast in quantity)

  • @2is1gold

The whole focus on an exit strategy while never wanting to, or working towards an exit is fantastic. As a side note, I had a purchase one time from JM that never made it to me. The claims process they have in place works when you follow it. It resulted in my being sent a replacement after an short investigation was conducted to determine that my claim was valid. Total time from confirmation of missing shipment to receiving my replacement was about 30 days. I've been a customer of theirs as well as others for several years.

I recently sold some fractional gold to a LCS and was impressed at the ease of selling but had no Idea what the price at [ A] was with shipping and all fees involved. This makes me a lot more willing to buy High value coins versus the smart choice of Buffalo's or AGEs. Next test is to query the current values of the top line coins compared to what I paid. see what being an Elite Member really means.
