Selkie Stories- The Seal King - The Selkie Wife

Today on Badger Horns I make some Selkie-themed art and tell some stories. The main takeaway of this episode is "Leave seals alone" but to find out why you'll have to lend me your ear.
The Selkie stories in this episode are adaptations of traditional folk tales but are heavily influenced by "The People of the Sea", David Thompson's zoological, folklorical travel memoir. It's one of my favourite books and is well worth a read.
Chapters-

I heard the Seal King story many, many years ago. I had already forgotten all about it until tonight, when a different memory from my childhood brought this story back to my mind. Thanks

I caught five minutes of a movie years ago and it mentions that story. The line I clearly remember is: when a selkie finds her skin not chains of iron not chain of love can keep from the sea.

What a fabulous video! It's nice to hear the stories told well without overly romanticising them. The art takes it to another level.
