THANK YOU!!! I just started my classes at drama Inc for on camera 1!! I theatrical background only and I film videos and they are good but and I didn’t even think about the 2x in on the zoom!!!! Watching my self on class I’m like “MY QUALITY IS THAT BUT THE SHOT IS NEVER RIGHT” yes yes yes. I’m saving this video to video to review for my future auditions!!!

Man, The editing part was EXACTLY what i needed to see. The full body pinch is what i needed to figure out. One thing tho is after i shoot, i do all the shorten of the video before using imovie, but for some reason when i add it to imovie, they are back to original length and i have to re shorten again

Hmm. That would probably depend on how or where they are being loaded from. If it is from iPhone you may be saving as new instead of saving that specific vid.

Thanks for the great video! I’m doing research to find regular *affordable* acting classes (community) I can tune in each week and keep consistently upleveling my craft. Now with COVID there are a lot of zoom options in NYC and LA. Do you have a regular group you practice scene work, self tape etc? Recommendations of good places would be fab! Thanks :)

I actually was doing a lot of online classes before the pandemic and then closed them out because of a few films I had to shoot, but I will be starting them back up again soon and I am launching a few courses for people to don on their own time. You can aways reach out to me as well if you would like to set up a private or chat, craft, career, or next steps. I would say add yourself to the email list on thedeanwest.com to keep updated for upcoming classes etc. I would also get onto the new clubhouse app, I do a lot of panels there with questions and answers etc.

Just opened a new online audition class and launching the online courses ASAP

Don’t hesitate to reach out! I have some a few courses and you can always book a private for coaching or taping setup or technicals. I am sure you rocked it!

So now all the options for purchasing in your links popped my head off. You know, it's easier to choose ice cream when there is 3 flavors instead of 32.. my FOMO is on fire now.

😂. Different strokes for different folks. Sad part is in the tech world things are coming out constantly! Find what works best for your set up and studio and run with it.

Hi - thanks for this - when I shoot on my iPhone I go for HD 30. for some reason it looks great on my phone but once I airdrop it to my pc the quality is passable but nowhere near as good.

knock it up to hd 60 the higher the frames per second the better your quality and information should be. See how that goes.

You can shoot in 4k if you can be sure to render the video smaller in editing, or be sure your phone is at least set to 1080, but most phones now a days are pretty simple or are preset to a dynamic range.

Very welcome. I am using the 10x on this one. Also with the new updates that just happened, you need to go into your settings and change the camera format to Most compatible instead of High efficiency.

@@lauralockwood48 Very welcome Laura. No not necessarily. I would assume the newer the better as the camera, and shooting capabilities get better. Also make sure you are shooting in 60fps. brings up your quality. I prefer shooting on a camera if I can help it.

You don’t really need one. After you shoot your video go into your regular camera roll and shorten the video, or edit the beginning off in iMovie.

SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much Dean. My one question: what are the original settings on the camera? 720p HD or 1080p HD at 30 fps? Thank you again for this gem.

@@TheDeanWest_ You’re the best. I appreciate you. The one problem I’m having is the blur the minute I upload on actor access. Not sure why this is happening but im gonna go back to 1080 and see if that changes anything. I initially had it at that and AA told me to put 720.

There are a few in the room and I use different for different set ups, but if you can make sure and order some 5000lumens bulbs, then you can make the most out of any fixtures

there are a few good websites where you can find people that will read with you, or you can higher. You can also have someone over zoom or on the phone to work with you, but the preference is someone you can see as to help you connect to someone when you are talking. If you are in classes get a little group that you support eachother and or jump on Facebook and look for actor support groups.
